Tähtitieteilijät ovat saaneet selville kiinnostavia yksityiskohtia 30 Doradus tähtienmuodostusalueesta, joka tunnetaan myös Tarantula-sumuna. Tulokset perustuvat uusiin ALMA:n (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) avulla tehtyihin havaintoihin. Euroopan eteläisen observatorion (ESO) tänään julkaisemassa tarkassa kuvassa, joka sisältää myös ALMA:n havainnot, näemme sumun aivan uusin silmin. Kuvassa näkyy utuisia kaasupilviä, jotka kertovat siitä, miten massiiviset tähdet muokkaavat tätä aluetta.
