Te iwi tahi tatou - We are one family.
Tēnā koutou, Konnichiwa, As-salāmu 'alaykum, Hola,

Dear Parents & Whānau
It's certainly been a weekend of crazy weather! I hope you have all managed to stay reasonably dry!  I am looking around the school today and seeing so many students (and staff!) enjoying the break in the weather.  I think we can all handle the wind, but the rain has kept us locked away and today the playground has been buzzing with excitement.

I am very pleased to share that three of our Toi groups have had wins in their categories!
BEST USE OF INVENTIVE MATERIALS went to Trashin' Fashin'
EXCELLENT GARMENT CONSTRUCTION went to The Huntress
IMPRESSIVE STORYTELLING went to Two Futures

A massive thank you goes to Christine Sangster for overseeing this event and to the teams who have put HOURS into the designs, story development and building of these works of art. (Mums and dads get a big thanks too....we know how much effort you have all put in!)

Please check out the Cyber Safety event being held on July 5th in our hall.  The poster and link to attend is below.  Last year we had over 100 parents come and listen and they were not disappointed.  What was shared changed my thinking and view on childrens' access to the internet.

Principal

Don't forget to check out the school's Facebook Page which has the latest updates about what is going on at school.

COVID Update & Reminders

Under the Orange setting, schools have been tasked with continuing to review the health and safety conditions for their students and staff, and monitoring the number of COVID cases in the school community.  As you will have read in my email on 8 June, our Board of Trustees has decided to mandate the use of masks at South Wellington Intermediate School until at least 20 June, when we will review the situation.

All students and staff who are able to do so, will be required to wear masks while inside the buildings. Visitors to the school will also need to be compliant with our current mask-wearing requirement.

Please email me directly to confirm if your child is exempt from wearing a mask.  My email address is principal@swis.school.nz

Thank you for your ongoing support during these changing times.
