ThinKom and CarlisleIT to bring new satellite solution to IFC market
ThinKom and CarlisleIT jointly announce that they are bringing the ThinAir Ka1717, a new, fully integrated phased-array Ka-band satellite antenna solution, designed for in-flight connectivity (IFC) on regional jet fleets.
The ThinAir Ka1717 utilizes the Variable Inclination Continuous Transverse Stub (VICTS) technology that is currently in use on several aircraft. The Ka1717 is designed to meet the ITU Article 22 and WRC 5G earth station in motion (ESIM) requirements to ensure that the system does not interfere with GEO satellites when operating on Non-geostationary (NGSO) networks or with 5G terrestrial networks that share the same Ka-band spectrum. Find out more here.
ThinKom and CarlisleIT are collaborating on the development and certification of a fully integrated Ka1717 package, including the radome, adapter plate, fairing, power supply, connecting cables, and installation kits for the regional jet market. As per the latest press release from the company, Ka1717 will reportedly weigh below 115 kg.
