Events Recap

Dinner with TAP-SF

Thank you to those who came out to our first ever Dinner with TAP-SF! We enjoyed a delicious meal (plus *all four* desserts) at LaoTable, and had conversations around how to respond to friend's text messages and quarantine experiences in Taiwan! Join us on Discord to stay connected.

Upcoming Events

Rock Climb & Hang with TAP-SF

When: Saturday, June 18 from 3PM - 8PM
Where: Movement Santa Clara
Register here

Join TAP-SF for a fun afternoon of rock climbing and bouldering at Movement Santa Clara. Never climbed before? No worries! Two gym instructors will lead a 1.5 hour private lesson (3 - 4:30 pm) to guide us through rock climbing and bouldering basics. To ensure a more intimate experience, this climbing party will be capped at 10 people. The day pass for each person is $35, with all rentals included, and enables you to stay all day if you like.

If you cannot join for the climb but would still like to hang out, afterwards we’ll go mingle at Yard House in Santana Row at around 5 pm, and possibly followed by dinner at Dumpling Time, so come on by!

Beach Cleanup and Tea Talks Lite

When: Saturday, July 9 from 9 AM – 1 PM
Where: Sharp Park Beach, Pacifica
Register here

Join TAP-SF to help keep our beaches clean and beautiful at a local beach cleanup, followed by 'Tea Talks Lite' so we can get to know each other better! For the beach cleanup, we are joining Pacific Beach Coalition in their monthly beach cleanup of Sharp Park Beach in Pacifica.

Afterwards, join us at Breakers Breakfast, Brunch & Lunch for Tea Talks Lite! To continue fostering connections that take the pressure off of making your own small talk, we will be recreating our Tea Talks event from April but in a more casual way.

We hope to see you at both parts of the event, but feel free to also just come for one or the other!

Bike Ride across the Golden Gate Bridge with TAP SF

When: Saturday, July 17 at 8:30AM
Where: Pier 41, San Francisco
Register here

Join TAP-SF for a morning bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. We will be renting bikes from Blazing Saddles at Fisherman's Wharf Pier 41, biking across the Golden Gate Bridge, and taking the ferry at Sausalito back to Fisherman's Wharf.

The bike ride is approximately 8 miles in distance with a few uphill climbs (You can do it! If not, you can always walk your bike or rent an e-bike). This will take us about 1.5hr to finish before we catch the 11:50am ferry. We'll have time for a cool drink at Joinery, a beer hall in Sausalito, complimentary of Blazing Saddles.

Taiwanese Community Happenings

Help OCAC understand the current development of Taiwanese immigrants in the US

Developed by a researcher who has a Ph.D. from the National Taiwan Normal University and is also a civil servant at the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), this questionnaire has overseas Taiwanese immigrants currently aged 18-40 as its subjects; the main study issue is the current situation and development of young Taiwanese immigrants in the United States of America.

The aim is to understand issues relating to young Taiwanese immigrants in the US. By understanding the experiences of each immigrant, an attempt will be made, on the basis of the existing immigrant research topics, to increase the attention given to “First generation vs. Second and Third Generation”, and it is hoped a picture of young Taiwanese immigrants will be built. Its results can also be provided for reference of the government in planning overseas compatriot affair policies and academic research on overseas compatriot youth issues.

Join the TAP-SF Discord community!

We are launching a new way to get in touch with us - Discord! Discord is a chat app that functions similar to slack. Come join us and hang out with us and people you’ve met during events! We tested this out at the recent hikes and it has been very useful for folks to have real-time communication about the group whereabouts. We’re also looking for anyone who’s experienced with Discord communities to help us craft a welcoming space for everyone.
