The Facility has launched its first-ever art competition, giving two winners, one under the age of 18 and one adult (18+), in Gloucestershire the chance to win a behind-the-scenes tour of the site.
The competition requires entrants to create a representation of the Facility through a medium of their choice. After the competition closes, a selection of the best artwork, including the winners’ creations, will be displayed in an exhibition in the Facility’s Visitor Centre, which will be able to be viewed on site tours.
Applications for the 2022 Community Fund have been open since April and are set to close at the end of July.
The Fund is made available annually, providing financial grants to support projects that have environmental, social and/or community benefits to the constituted community groups and parish organisations from Hunts Grove, Hardwicke, Quedgeley, Brookthorpe-with-Whaddon, Haresfield, Harescombe, Standish, Moreton Valence and Whitminster.
The Facility has published the emissions monitoring results for operational activity during May 2022.
The emission limits included within the Facility's Environmental Permit were set by the Environment Agency and reflect those defined within the Industrial Emissions Directive.
The graph shows the level of permissible emissions according to the Environmental Permit, illustrated by the orange line. The actual emissions produced by the Facility are shown in green as a percentage average output over the month. For this month, as with all months before, emissions produced are below the permitted limit set out in the Facility's Permit.
The website is updated every month with the previous month's emissions performance. For previous emissions data, please see the historical emissions data page.
The Facility is constantly monitoring its performance data. The results for May, and all previous months since the Facility became operational, are now available, including:
All waste treated (tonnes) - This is the total amount of waste that is brought to the Facility each month for treatment. Materials recovered for recycling (tonnes) - This is the amount of materials that are recovered for recycling each month at the Facility. Electricity (megawatt-hours/ MWh) - This is the total amount of electricity that is sent to the National Grid each month.
Gloucestershire County Council’s (GCC) latest campaign is called ‘Know Your Plastics’ and the aim is to increase the number of plastics correctly recycled throughout Gloucestershire.
Many people put plastics in their recycling bin at home hoping they will be recycled without knowing for sure if they can be. This is called “wish-cycling”. Unfortunately, not all types of plastic are recycled locally and the guidance varies from district to district, so it's important to check your local recycling regulations and #KnowYourPlastics. The campaign answers questions from ‘Can I recycle black plastic?’ to ‘Should I be removing lids or trigger sprays?’
All of the answers can be found at Plastics - Gloucestershire Recycles. GCC are supporting Plastic Free July with lots of content to come about how to live a more plastic-free lifestyle.
