Volunteer Opportunity for AWC members!

Join staff at the River Rats Festival in Athabasca on July 1st and 2nd! Help educate members of the public about the Athabasca Watershed, and the Athabasca Watershed Council. Contact Ashley at outreach@awc-wpac.ca if you're interested in helping out!

Outreach Opportunity

Interested in having a watershed display at your group or municipality's events this summer? The Athabasca Watershed Council would love to help! If you have an event for us, please email  outreach@awc-wpac.ca with the date and location and we'll be in touch with you. We're looking forward to attending events in person again! We've been out to school Pond Days in and around Lac La Biche, Fort Assiniboine, Thunder Lake, Lac La Nonne, and Chip Lake.

Athabasca River Rats Festival:
Curious about what the Athabasca Watershed Council office looks like? Come visit us in our office during the River Rats Festival! On Saturday, the historic Train Station will host an art gallery featuring art and photography from local artists, so check it out and come say hello to AWC staff!
Technical Writing for Professionals:
This two-day, 16-hour course is a highly interactive, classroom-based review of technical writing and reporting from the Natural Resources Training Group. Course participants will complete a number of in-class assignments, exercises, group discussions and group teachings. This course equips students with hands-on tools to create technical writing which is more engaging, compelling, and persuasive. The course draws on tools of other writing genres to inspire, motivate, and empower better writers. Cost: $600.

Riparian Health Assessment & Plant ID Training in the Peace Region
Register to spend July 13th and 14th with Cows and Fish staff to improve your understanding of riparian ecology and management. Both sessions are designed for those working in agricultural or conservation extension, or others in related professions who need to have a better understanding of riparian health and ecology. Both training sessions will be conducted in the Peace Region. Registrants will be provided with the exact locations at a later date. Attendance for these sessions is free to those working in education, extension, or other not-for-profit organizations. For those working in a for-profit sector, attendance will cost $150.00 per session.
