Highland Park Water and Wastewater Improvements Project

Highland Park Water and Wastewater Improvements Project
Construction Moving to the Intersection of Mount Barker Drive and Crestway Drive

Work on the project is moving to the intersection of Mount Barker Drive and Crestway Drive the week of June 13, 2022. The construction crew will be installing both the water and wastewater lines around this intersection. It is expected to take about 4 weeks. The crew will move north along Crestway Drive from this intersection while performing this work. Please note that the contractor will need to jump from one section to another along Crestway to meet the work sequence.

Please observe No Parking Signs in and around the work area to ensure a safe work environment and to avoid any delays.

The contractor will continue their ongoing practices to ensure access for residents and emergency vehicles during the construction, including having flaggers to keep traffic moving around work areas, notifying residents before work begins in front of a driveway and keeping metal plates on hand to quickly cover an open trench if necessary. The contractor will maintain access for emergency vehicles at all times.

The contractor and project team will continue precautions and coordination with the Austin Fire Department as detailed in our previous newsletter.

If you have questions about this upcoming work, please feel free to contact a member of the project team below. We look forward to completing these utility improvements in your neighborhood.

Project Overview
The Highland Park Water & Wastewater Improvement Project is constructing a second water line to feed into the area. The project runs about three miles from Far West Blvd. to Crestway Dr. with much of the work being done along Balcones Drive.

Water line breaks are well documented in this area, and the existing 12-inch line is a dead-end and not connected or looped with other water lines. The new 16-inch line will improve water service and fire protection in the area and allow for the decommissioning of an antiquated pump station and reservoir located on Ridge Oak Drive.
