CCHS Newsletter 61 - 20th June 2022
Message from Executive Headteacher
This week's newsletter starts with a plea.
Unfortunately we have been experiencing an increase in abusive and aggressive communications from a small number of parents, whether this be by phone, email or face to face.

Some points that should go without saying and are clearly understood by most of our parents:
  • We are all working to the same goal, getting the best education possible for your child
  • Sometimes we have to deliver difficult messages about your children that are not easy to hear
  • Children succeed at school when both parents and school are mutually supportive of each other
  • Sometimes we will get things wrong and when we do we will work hard to rectify this and improve in the future.
None of us know what others are going through.  We will all have difficult, challenging and sometimes upsetting things happen at home or at work. Treating people with kindness, consideration and care makes the world of difference.

STUDENT ABSENCE REQUESTS
Just a reminder that student absence requests from parents need to be sent to our
http://office@cc-hs.com email account with the form attached, preferably filed in, although emails with information of the leave request are accepted too. Forms are on the policies section of our website, under 'Request for Leave & Guidance Notes'.
Requests then go to Mr Harding for his decision, and a letter is then sent to parents / carers.

Thank you
Altruism in Action...
Well done to Year 9 student Ollie W.
On Wednesday 8th June, as part of The Wolverhampton Wheelers cycling club, Ollie took part in a charity bike ride to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War.  The Wolverhampton leg was held at the velodrome at Aldersley Stadium as part of a national event.

Y9 Hospitality Visit to Weston Park
On 15th June, a group of 15 Year 9 Food Technology students visited a careers event at Weston Park in Shropshire, the first of its kind held at the site.  They took part in activities with different members of staff and were given information about the varied roles people undertake at Weston Park, and the vast range of job opportunities available within the hospitality industry.  After the event they also had the chance to talk to training providers to see which educational path would be the best fit for them after Year 11.

Parents claiming some benefits can claim free school meals for any of their children who are registered at a Staffordshire school and who would normally be at school at lunch time. School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime and you can save yourself time and money.

Even if you don't want your children to have the meals, claiming them helps their school. The more eligible parents who claim meals, the more funding the school receives.

The phone number for the free school entitlement checking service team has changed.  Should you need to contact them regarding any claims queries, their number is now 0300 111 8007  option 3, then option 2
