Trail Updates & Workday to Clear Crest Snow

Next Saturday, 18 June - Monarch Crest Snow Shovel Event.  Each year, we work with the Tomichi Trail Riders, and the SRD to shovel the two snowbanks on the Monarch Crest Trail.  We do this to prevent people from riding or biking across the tundra.  Please, please, please, don’t go around the snow onto the tundra.  Stay the trail or turn around. To participate, plan to meet at 9 am at Monarch Pass this Saturday, June 18 to ride in and shovel the snow.  If you are coming in from the Marshall Pass side, meet at the top of Marshall at 9 am and ride in.  Presently Greens Creek isn’t open.  Last year, with a big crew, we were done by noon.

National Trails Day Workday 4 June. This joint workday with the Salida Mountain Trails MTB club was a huge success.  The combined volunteer count was over 50.  The three work groups worked on the Rainbow Trail at CR108, CR106, and Sand Gulch. Thanks to all of the CCMR volunteers - you exceeded expectations as to what can be accomplished when motorized and non-motorized organizations work together towards a common goal.
Club and Membership Party 4 June.  Thanks to all that attended our membership party and fund raiser at Bensons Tavern.  Special thanks to all of our raffle and prize donors and to Brett, owner of Benson's Tavern..  It was a great event.  Thanks to all that help make it happen and be sure to support our donors.
CCMR Trail Updates.  We continue to post trail status on Facebook.  For example, the Rainbow Trail is clear from Silver Creek to Hayden Pass Road (CR6).  If you clear a section marked “Not open”, let us know.  Thanks to the SRD OHV crew for all of their trail clearing.

One note, please don’t cut initials into cut logs. Cutting initials into cleared trees is considered graffiti and a no-no ... so pass the word.  Additionally, when clearing trails, please do not create hazards by leaving cut logs on the trail.  As always ... thanks for any trail clearing in order to help ensure safety and enable users to "stay the trail".
Rainbow Trail Reroute Update.  Trailcat mechanical effort continues.  With two mini excavators working they are moving quickly.  Stay tuned for future post-mechanical workdays.
