The Built Environment should take a sustainable approach in its power consumption

The world has witnessed dramatic changes in Climate Change as the Earth’s temperatures have risen 1.04 degrees Celsius in the last two decades. Although the extractive industries are the direct biggest culprits, the circumspect view reveals that the built environment is guilty.

The argument for this is that if the built environment, i.e., construction, engineering, urban planning, and cement production - took on a much more sustainable approach in its power consumption, the demand for fossil fuels would be lower. Not to mention the deforestation that is associated with construction.

We will discuss this in-depth and some possible solutions or alternative ways we can achieve growth in the built environment without negatively impacting the climate.
