MOVE ! Body Politics in Motion

Opening a.s. vrijdag 8 juli vanaf 20.00. Tickets aan de deur: 5,- incl. welkomstdrankje. Performances tussen 20.30 en 22.30, DJ vanaf 21.30.

To live and die with soil

MOVE ! Body Politics in Motion

Do we see you at the opening this Friday?

With MOVE ! Body Politics in Motion, MU zooms in on the liberating power of the dancing body from 8 July till 18 September. Drop by this Friday from 20.00 for the festive opening, dance to the tunes by DJ Vir the Sir and make sure you don't miss out on the Striptopia Peep Show performances!

Those who dance move and those who move change. Everyone who dances sets the world around them in motion and expresses what moves them. Dancing together is a source of energy and release, pleasure and protest.

From rave to ballroom, from peepshow to festival, from TikTok to street parade; how and where we dance contributes to who we are. From young to old, alone at home in front of the mirror or all dressed up out there and everything in between. Dancing is a universal ritual of all times, a dynamic expression of identity, a physical manifestation that is both vulnerable and extremely strong. Movement speaks the non-verbal language of rhythm and emotion. Especially in times of radical changes and major crises, dance can allow our bodies to speak in all their unity and diversity.

Opening this Friday 8 July from 20.00. Door sale only: 5,- incl. 1 welcome drink. Performances between 20.30 and 22.30, DJ from 21.30.

To live and die with soil

An essay by Georgia Kareola

Specially for EARTHSHRINE: Sensing Sacred Soils, the solo exhibition by artist Jasper Griepink which was on show at MU until the end of June, researcher and writer Georgia Kareola wrote the essay To live and die with soil. The text contains threads woven in from the Temple Talk between Jasper Griepink and eco-warrior Victoria McKenzie on 26 May at MU, during which they touched upon notions of sacred spaces, soil communities, collectivity, and storytelling and dance as ways to connect with the land. Watch the Temple Talk here.
