* This exhibit is not open to members of the general public outside of this special event.
Free and open to the public. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required for entry, including booster where applicable. Masks required at all times indoors. Outdoor reception on 2nd floor balcony. Registration is not required for this event.

MSRI EVENT ACCESS AND PARKING
17 Gauss Way, Berkeley, CA 94720
Paid parking (50 cents/hour, via credit card only) is available in the Space Science Laboratory (SSL) lots via PayByPhone smartphone app, website, or phone - please follow instructions on signage. The lot number is 9477. You may pre-register to save time upon arriving, and this app is used throughout campus for future events. You will need your license plate information in order to register your vehicle.
** Please note a change in parking since previous events: the MSRI Only free parking lot off Centennial Drive is not available for parking after 5pm if the lot gate is closed.
A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available first-come, first-served at the MSRI building entrance.
UC Berkeley's Hill Shuttle operates on campus from Evans Hall / Mining Circle to the Space Science Laboratory twice per hour. Non-UC Berkeley or MSRI ID holders can ride for $1/trip, payable via cash only. The final shuttle of the evening departs MSRI at 7:15 PM. ( View shuttle schedule) This shuttle drops off at the top of the MSRI driveway and riders will need to walk down the inclined driveway to reach the building.

About the Photographer: Beverly Conley
Beverly Conley is a documentary photographer in Benicia, California. She finds true satisfaction in long-term, self-assigned projects that focus on individuals and contemporary society. Her quest has allowed her to enter the private worlds of Roma and Travellers in England, the Cherokee Nation in Northeastern Oklahoma, steelworkers in Weirton, West Virginia and the Cape Verdean Communities in Boston and in the Cape Verde Islands.
She is represented in numerous permanent collections including the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Museum of London, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Boston Public Library, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, the Cleveland Public Library, and the Museum of Native American History and Culture in Bentonville, Arkansas.

About the Photographer: Jon Krotinger
Since 1993 Jon Krotinger’s photographs have appeared in more than two dozen one-man and juried shows in galleries and museums internationally, including the Artists' Guild All-California Juried Exhibition at the San Diego Museum of Art and, most recently, at the Collectors' Photography Gallery in Corte Madera, CA. The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, included one of his photographs as the show-catalog title page for a 2014 show. It is now in the Museum's permanent collection. His photos are represented in the Permanent Print Collection at the Center for Photography, Woodstock, New York; the AT&T Corporate art collection; and private collectors around the United States.
Reviewing his one-man show at the Aura Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, entitled “Night Lights: Industry After Dark.” the gallery critic for the Santa Fe New Mexican wrote, “The energy here has much to do with striving for perfection... But he’s not compulsive. Subtle is a better term. Krotinger feels no compulsion to draw the viewer’s attention to his skill, but one can’t help but notice.”

About the Artist: Kevin Walker
"At a very abstract level, my work is about the interplay between regularity and irregularity at different spatial scales. The ideas typically start out as "doodling" with pen and paper and end up as algorithms which mimic the doodling. One of the things I like about mathematics is the vastness of mathematical space in comparison to the relatively narrow confines of the physical universe. I think of these images as analogous to interestingly shaped rocks or pieces of driftwood discovered while exploring this space."
Kevin Walker is a mathematician whose career has included significant detours into environmental activism and electoral politics. He currently works at Microsoft's quantum computing group and is a County Commissioner in Grand County, Utah. Learn more: kevinwalker.info
