Here's what you need to know today...

Dear SLSC Community,

We have held off sharing these in order to leave room for changes...but at this point, it's nice to imagine that we can see our path forward.

The heath & safety of our staff and sailors remain our top priority at SLSC, while at the same time, we are looking forward to a staged return to many of our traditional modes of fun that we have not be able to run for the last two summers.

Covid Health & Safety Update - Summer 2022
Here are the steps we are taking to ensure a safe environment for all sailors and staff members:
  • Maximizing outdoor activities
  • Sailors will be primarily be grouped into their CANSail level cohorts
  • Minimal mixing outside of cohort groups
  • Mixing that does happen will be outside or in well-ventilated areas
  • All indoor spaces that are used will have adequate ventilation
  • Regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces
  • Promotion of regular hand washing and hand hygiene
  • COVID vaccines are encouraged but not required for all eligible sailors
  • Masks are welcome but not required

  • Drop-off and pick-up will be the OLD way, back on  SLSC property, located at 51 Golf Links Road

Please DO NOT drive into the Wroe Family lawn, as you did last year for either drop-off or pick-up

  • We ask that parents and caregivers remain physically distant from the sailors when on SLSC property
We will continue to consult with public health to ensure we are up to date with Covid-19 guidelines and recommendations and make adjustments if required. We will NOT require a daily screening tool at this point.

What Do I Do If My Sailor Gets Covid?
  1. If any sailor has any COVID-19 symptoms such as a sore throat, fever, sneezing, or coughing, must stay home and:
  • Remain home and self-isolate as possible;
  • Promptly follow up with public health for guidance as required.
  1. If a sailor develops symptoms of illness while at SLSC, they will be isolated with a staff member and their parent or caregiver will be contacted to pick them up as soon as possible.
  1. Anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19 will not be permitted on the premises. We expect that families will continue to self- monitor and respect the guidelines for potential illness and proceed with caution in order to avoid a potential outbreak.
  1. If there is a positive case of COVID-19 detected at camp, Public Health will advise SLSC on next steps and an immediate communication would be sent to affected families and staff.
If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Very best,

Richard Roberts,
SLSC Commodore
