Veggie Gardens of Guilford Tour

Sunday July 17, 2022
9:30 am - 11:30am
Four Guilford Veggie Gardens

*(light) Rain or Shine*

Come along for the down-home Veggie Gardens of Guilford Tour. Whether you’re a new or long suffering Vermont gardener, come find inspiration, ideas, and solidarity amongst the beautiful, flourishing, and groundhog nibbled gardens of Guilford. We’ll visit four home veggie gardens, traveling together from one garden to the next. Together we’ll share our gardening joys and trials as we stroll through the veggie patch.

Registration is required: https://bit.ly/3yuwKcn. After you register, we will provide the tour's starting location. Carpooling encouraged! This tour is free and open to all, but donations to Neighborhood Roots Food Collective will be gladly received. Suggested donation: $15

Farmer Focus: Meggie Stoltzman

In the northwest corner of Guilford on the border of Halifax, Hermit Thrush Homestead offers an array of diversified vegetables and berries. The 2 acre non-certified organic farm is the result of the hard work of Farmer Meggie Stoltzman. Meggie started Hermit Thrush Homestead in the summer of 2011 and shares the space with her husband Patrick and their five year old daughter, Sylvia.
Driven by her passions of food and plants as well as her curiosity with the natural world, Meggie sees the farm as an intersection of her loves combined.
“Being completely immersed outside in the elements of rain or shine at the whim of so many environmental forces that are beyond my control, gives me a deep sense of connection to the earth and this complex ecosystem we inhabit. I love how growing food for my neighbors gives me an innate sense of appreciation and reliance on my immediate community.”

Today, Hermit Thrush Homestead offers a variety of vegetables, blueberries, raspberries and is home to 50 laying hens. The farm products are sold at the self-service farmstand, a summer Farmstand CSA that runs from Mid-May through Mid-November (full for the 2022 season), and through the Neighborhood Roots Food Collective Buying Group.

If you are planning to order from Fedco Bulbs (garlic, flower bulbs, etc.), consider joining our group order to save some money. If our group order total reaches $1200 or more, we'll all get 20% off! So, be sure to spread the word to friends and we'll all benefit.

Order Deadline: Sunday, July 17th. This allows us plenty of time to get our group order in before the Fedco discount deadline, and (hopefully) ensure that most things aren't out of stock yet.

Our Fedco Bulbs group order number is 590003
