Club News
 

Club members along with participants from the Baltimore Browns Backers and Annapolis Browns Backers cheered the Guardians on June 4 at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The game was close, 4-5, but fell to the Orioles. Nevertheless the Guardians won two out of three in Baltimore and hold second place in the American League Central Division. Thanks to Tom Steich for organizing this event.


News from Cleveland


Summer Music. MetroParks is producing five summer music concerts at various locations among its parks. See here for more details.
 
After a two-year hiatus, the Cleveland Art Museum brings back Solstice on June 25, a four-hour evening of music, food and performance. Tickets are hard to get. See here for more details.
 
The Cleveland Clinic said it would spend $1.3 billion on capital projects in Cleveland, Florida and London. Prominent will be a new Neurological Institute in Cleveland between East 86th and East 90th Streets. To build it, the Clinic plans to demolish the Cleveland Playhouse complex at East 85th and Euclid. The City Club of Cleveland has announced this summer’s four free symposia on Public Square. They include sessions with Cleveland’s Director of City Planning and the leader of the George Gund Foundation. See here for more details.

The Ford Motor Company announced it would build all-electric vehicles at the Avon Lake Ohio Assembly Plant creating 1,800 union jobs and doubling the current employment. Ford’s investment will be $1.5 billion. The vehicles will be for commercial customers. Click on: Sean McDonnell reports.

June 4 saw two notable Cleveland events. The LGBT Pride Parade returned to Malls B and C, and the Cleveland Orchestra performed a rescheduled celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr
