After much lively deliberation and discussion, the Editorial Board has selected the four new Intercurricular Educational Platforms that will start in September 2022. We are very excited to announce: Crip the Curriculum, Material Monopolies, Bread Oven, and Going Underground, and are looking forward to the discourse and conversations they will provoke around the academy. We received many interesting and exciting proposals and again would like to thank all of those who sent in an application. We appreciate your time and attention.

The Editorial Board will also be funding a number of smaller projects, whose work will be published on our website extraintra.nl, from September 2022 onwards. More details to follow soon!

Information about the Editorial Board and the current and previous intercurricular programmes can be found on the extra intra website.

SPOTLIGHT

The Editorial Board is working on a new essay series to be published on the extra intra website starting next semester, which will reflect on recent epistemic shifts in art and design education within North-Western Europe. We are pleased to announce the first contributors: Jules Sturm and Angelo Custodio, Ren Britton and Hari Prasad Adhikari Sacré. They will be writing about and thinking through the themes of embodiment, relationality, and future pedagogy.

Our current platforms—aux) and the Embodied Knowledge Bureau—are wrapping up their activities for the semester after a year of workshops, research, listening sessions, and lectures. We would like to thank them for all their hard work, enriching contributions, and dedication to their research. It has been a pleasure to support them.

Last month they organised one of their closing events, Crossfade: Sonic Somatics, at OT301. Here they shared their research and practices with an audience through performances, listening sessions and a moderated discussion. Guests included Sonia Fernández Pan, Liane and Tontonmukuna. You can find more information about it here.

In the fall of 2022, a team selected by the Editorial Board will conduct research on the preparation for professional practice. The research team will do interviews with focus groups in order to collect the current needs of students and alumni on this topic. They will then make an inventory of the various programmes and events regarding preparation for an artistic practice that are offered by our institution, and the cross-section of programmes offered by cultural institutions for graduates.
