Creating a Better Tomorrow

We held a Training for Trainers in May to empower those who will be teaching the faith-driven entrepreneurship courses.

Why Entrepreneurship?

Mozambique is one of the most underdeveloped nations in the world, and we believe that the key to a better tomorrow is to empower Mozambicans to start successful small businesses. Even better, we want to see these businesses formed by people with integrity and a vision to make their faith central to how they run their businesses and create a wider impact in their communities.

Sinapis Training

We have spent much of the last few months developing our partnership with Sinapis, which is an amazing faith-driven entrepreneurship training organization. We're almost done translating their curriculum into Portuguese, and they sent a representative, Sylvie, to come to Beira and give our Training for Trainers classes so that we can find the best people to teach the materials. These are exciting steps to getting the Innovation Center off the ground!

Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

In addition to the business training, we are working to create a robust network that will help new entrepreneurs thrive! While Sylvie was visiting, we were able to gather together several successful businesspeople, government officials, and nonprofit representatives to discuss how we can work together to make sure small businesses have all the tools they will need to succeed.

Sylvie from Sinapis (second from left) led the Training for Trainers sessions that gave the participants lots of insights into how to use businesses to bring the Kingdom of God in tangible and practical ways.

Jon's Trip to the Netherlands

In May, Jon was able to travel to the Netherlands. One purpose was to meet with some of our long-time partners, Woord en Daad, who have helped fund and empower some of our projects in the past, so it was very good to reconnect with them in person.

The second purpose of his trip was an immersion experience tied to his doctorate studies with Bakke Graduate University. His degree is in Transformational Leadership, and he and his cohort were able to meet with leaders from all over Amsterdam, from nonprofits and churches to government leaders, to see how they are working together to bring revival and spiritual transformation to a post-Christian context. The experience was extremely helpful in learning how to create partnerships across many strata of society and opened our eyes to many possibilities we hadn't thought of yet for reaching our city of Beira!
