Thank you for celebrating Refugee Week 2022.

To all of our Members & Supporters,

From a delicious fundraising takeaway at Leila's Kitchen to the joyous Open Day at St. Augustine's Centre, an artwork exhibition at Artworks to Light Up BAHC's "Story about Africa Refugees"...

This year's theme was all about 'Healing' - and how healing it truly was to see people from across Calderdale come together to mark Refugee Week. The last year has been really tough for all of us in the sector, so it was especially encouraging to see the celebrations.

We would love to hear your feedback so that we can make Refugee Week even better next year. Click below to fill out our survey and please share it with your network - it only takes a few minutes!

Thank you again for your support.

Temperance Movement Welcomes You

CVoS Member The Temperance Movement is an avid supporter of our cause, and the staff there have found creative ways to support people seeking sanctuary that make sense for their business.

Watch the video above to learn what the team is doing to make a difference, and also hear from Adrian Bell (Integration Co-ordinator from St. Augustine’s Centre) about the impact they’ve made.

You can read more about this project and view additional videos on our website.

CVoS Achievements:

We are pleased to announce we now have over 40 Members across the Valley in our network! You can view the full list on our website here.

We are also excited to announce that we are reviewing the final stages of Calderdale's first School of Sanctuary application, and assisting Calderdale Libraries as they seek Libraries of Sanctuary status.

This network isn't just symbolic - it has a real impact on new refugees arriving in Calderdale. Our vision is to continue to grow this network across all sectors and geographic areas of our borough, and develop involvement to meet the needs in our community.

One of the best things you can do as a Member or Supporter is help us in our mission. Share the news about CVoS and encourage your local businesses or organisations to sign up! It's free & easy - here's the link to join.

Tweets to Leadership Hopefuls

Rwanda flights have been paused until the new leadership contest is complete - but let's be honest... the contenders aren't giving us much hope! City of Sanctuary have compiled a list of Twitter handles and template tweets.

Let's call on candidates to #LeadWithCompassion

Run with Refugees

Join our friends at Together With Refugees to send a message of solidarity during the Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games are coming to Birmingham at the end of July! With the world’s attention on the UK, and as the ‘friendly games’ are historically ‘underpinned by the core values of humanity, equality and destiny’ it seems an ideal opportunity to send a clear message to the government that we need a fair and workable alternative to offshoring those who seek safety in the UK.

And what better way to do this than in a unique and thoroughly athletic way? So, we’re asking users of Strava (or any other running/route mapping tool or app) across the country to plan and run a route in the shape of a heart, share it on your app, tool and social channels and challenge five friends to complete it in a better time than you!

Click the button below to find out how to take part.

Theatres of Sanctuary Network Meeting

Join us at Leeds Playhouse (or online) for the next Theatres of Sanctuary Network meeting. All theatres and theatre companies are welcome, whether a long time theatre of sanctuary, in the process or just learning.

It would be great to see as many people as possible in Leeds but there will also be an online option for most of the programming.
