Refugee Week 2022 is almost here!

 

Refugee Week 2022 is 20-26 June, and the theme is ‘Healing’. Join us to celebrate care, community and new beginnings. Whoever and wherever you are, everyone is invited. 

We've compiled an exciting line-up of events you can join throughout the week. You can also view the pdf programme here or find more details on our website.

Friday 17 June

St. Augustine's Centre football team will go head to head with Halifax Friendly FC for a footie match to 'kick off' Refugee Week. Come cheer on the team and help raise money for charity.

Leila’s Kitchen is partnering with Together We Grow again to provide a special 2 course meal for £12.00.

MENU (vegan & gluten-free):
Starter: 3 Dolmeh ( stuffed vine leaves)
Main: Sweet Potato Dahl served with Persian rice.

Refugee Awareness Workshop

Brighouse High School

We explore what it means to seek asylum, busting myths about migration, and raising awareness about the biggest humanitarian crisis today. Light lunch will be provided.

Making Friends Film Trip

The Friends of Hebden Bridge Picture House have organised a trip for refugees and people seeking asylum to visit the cinema for a special screening.

The Great Get Together
12 noon - 6 pm (FREE)

Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge

Inspired by Jo Cox's National Great Get Together, this event is organised by Reach4wrd Community Project. Come for a tea party, bake off, DJs and loads of free events for the whole family!

Great Walk Together
1 - 3 pm (FREE)

Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge

Join Calderdale Valley of Sanctuary for a picnic and a walk in beautiful Hebden Bridge. We'll gather around 1 and head out for a walk at 2 pm. No need to book, just turn up on the day. Please bring your own picnic lunch.

Artworks Gallery, Halifax

This exhibition will showcase and celebrate the creative steps, acts, expressions and journeys taken by people who use art to heal themselves and others - with a focus on work by refugees, migrants and people seeking asylum. There will also be a special celebration on Friday 24 June, 3 pm.

Wainhouse Tower

Keep a lookout at night as Wainhouse Tower lights up orange all week to celebrate the contribution refugees make to our community.
