If you have a pastoral care concern,
please do contact the church office,  Pastor Leah, or Deacon Sandy to make an appointment. We will determine together whether a virtual or in-person visit is most appropriate for the circumstances.

If you have a team ministry need, please let the church office know.

If your Good Shepherd small group ministry would like to meet in-person at Good Shepherd, please contact the church office and let us know how we may accommodate your group.

It is important for the safety and well-being of our staff, our Good Shepherd community, and our neighbors that we attend well to carefully coordinated use of the building and grounds along with practicing other good mitigation practices.

We are thankful for your support and for the very creative adaptability of our ministry teams during this time of on-going pandemic. All are encouraged to continue to support the ministry of Good Shepherd by mailing your offering to church, giving online at
eflock.org/give , or bringing your financial gifts to in-person worship. Offerings can be sent to:

CALL PROCESS UPDATE

Our call process continues to move forward, and we are about to enter a new phase.  We previously shared that our Ministry Site Profile (MSP) was submitted to the Synod office in mid May.  Since then, the MSP was approved and forwarded to Pastor Leah for her review.  Meanwhile, Pastor Leah completed and submitted her Rostered Minister Profile (RMP) to the Synod.  We are pleased to share that the Synod has passed Pastor Leah’s RMP along to the Call Team along with the message that Pastor Leah desires to enter mutual discernment with the Team about the possibility of a second call with Good Shepherd, this time as lead pastor.  Pastor Leah indicated that she was given a choice by the Synod whether to inform the congregation of her decision to enter mutual discernment, or to let it remain confidential, as the call process allows.  After consideration, Pastor Leah ultimately felt that it was best for the good of the congregation to share this news with us.  The Call Team will meet in the upcoming week to confirm that we have consensus to move forward into mutual discernment with Pastor Leah, and will then invite conversation with her.  As we enter this next phase, please pray for Pastor Leah as she continues to engage in discernment about this call.  Please ask God to provide wise counsel to both the Call Team and Pastor Leah as they consider where the Spirit is calling them.  We are grateful for your continued prayers and support.     - GSLC Call Team

READINGS AND GOSPEL LESSON
Psalm 22:19-28
Isaiah 65:1-9
Galatians 3:23-29
The Gospel According to Luke 8:26-36

They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is across the lake from Galilee.  When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.  When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!”  For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.

Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”

“Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him.  And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.

A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission.  When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.

When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside,  and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.  Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured.  Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.

The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,  “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.

TIME AND TALENT SURVEY
Thank you to all who have completed and returned to us your Time and Talent Survey.  This is very helpful because it allows us to update your contact information on our system.  It also helps us know what gifts and talents you would like to share at Good Shepherd and in our community, so that we are able to match you and others with those activities that are most meaningful.  As it is often said, “many hands make light work.”

We are reviewing the many responses and our ministry teams have been given a list of the members who have expressed an interest in their area of activities.  You many receive a call or email in the next few weeks to answer questions you may have or to thank you for your willingness to participate.  If you did not request additional information your name will be added to our data list in those areas you selected.

If you have not yet responded, it is not too late.  Please either complete the survey online or pick up a paper survey at the Church.  It only takes about four minutes to complete.  Thank you.
