Asda Foundation’s Empowering
Local Communities Fund

Grants are available to support a broad range of activities that contribute towards transforming communities and improving lives across the UK. The focus of this funding round is to address the impact the rising cost of living is having on communities and supporting refugees arriving in the UK.

Funding: up to £1,500
Deadline: Applications can be submitted at any time up to the 19th August 2022. Applications should be made through each local Asda store’s Community Champion.

Asda Foundation’s Under 18 Better Starts Grant

Local community groups can apply for grants to support a broad range of activities that contribute to improving children’s lives and contribute towards transforming local communities. As a result of the cost of living crisis, the focus for round 2 funding is on ensuring children are supported during the summer. It could be providing essential food over the school holidays or a new uniform and sports kit ahead of the new school year, etc.

Funding: between £500 and £1500.
Deadline: Applications can be submitted at any time up to the 19th August 2022. Applications should be made through each local Asda store’s Community Champion.

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund -
Force for Change
Grants of up to £10,000 are available for community projects supporting Armed Forces communities. In particular, funding is available to support Armed Forces communities to become less isolated and engage more in their local area, and to support needs that have arisen as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Funding: up to £10,000
Deadline: 8th August 2022.

GWR Community Fund

Great Western Railway (GWR) has launched a new fund to support local communities and address areas of social need along the train operator’s network. As part of GWR’s franchise agreement with the Department for Transport, the train operator will award funding to projects that open up rail travel to more communities by focusing on inclusion and diversity, engagement and education, environmental benefit, economic growth, and making rail travel more accessible.

Funding: between £250 and £3,000
Deadline: 27th June 2022

The MSE Charity

The MSE Charity gives grants to not for profit organisations that deliver activities that make a lasting impact on how people think, behave and manage their money. In this funding round, grants of up to £7,500 will be available for projects focused on building financial capability skills and assisting groups who support mental health, well-being, cook for less, training in other independent living skills, and peer mentoring.

Funding: up to £7,500
Deadline: 22nd July 2022 or sooner.

National Emergencies Trust – Local Action Fund
The National Emergencies Trust in partnership with Crowdfunder UK is making £1.2 million in match funding available to help voluntary and community organisations overcome the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The funding aims to support organisations by helping them to counter financial challenges created by the pandemic, including the inability to fundraise in the usual ways, reductions in staff and volunteers, and increased demand on their services.

Funding can be used to either launch new local initiatives or to enable them to continue existing services, including health and wellbeing services; services addressing food poverty; and community response coordination.

Funding: Up to £20,000 in match-funding is available.
Deadline: The funding, which is being made available through the Local Action Fund, must be spent in full by the 31st December 2022.

The 7stars Foundation

The 7stars Foundation will provide funding for projects which support young people living in areas of deprivation and socioeconomic disadvantage who are challenged by abuse or addiction, who are young carers, or who are homeless. Projects should address a lack of provision and provide immediate support. Example of support could include recreational trips, mentoring programmes, and counselling sessions.

Funding: up to £2,500.
Deadline: Ongoing

The Henry Smith Charity – Holiday Grants

The purpose of the Holiday Grants programme is to provide access to recreational trips or holidays for groups of children who experience disadvantage or who have disabilities. In particular they are interested in contributing to trips that would not take place without their funding.

Funding: £500 - £2,500
Deadline: applications can be submitted at any time.

Little Lives UK - Children's Community Support Programme

There are a significant number of organisations and businesses that are struggling financially, as a result of Coronavirus. Due to lockdowns and social distancing, children across UK have been unable to access the services they used to. There will no doubt be long-term negative effects because of the pandemic, but Little Lives UK wants to guarantee that children’s services and activities are not one of them. Hence, they are launching their Children’s Community Support Programme.

They’re offering to support organisations that work with children, who are in need of support during these challenging times.

Funding: up to £2,200
Deadline: The next deadline is 30th June 2022.

The Enovert Community Trust

The Trust is committed to supporting community and environmental projects, such as improving community halls, creating new children’s play areas, restoring green spaces and habitats, and enhancing community sports and recreation facilities.

The Trust funds projects within ten miles of Enovert Management Limited’s waste management operations in:

  • Cheltenham (GL52 7RS) 
  • Cirencester (GL7 1YG)
  • Gloucester (GL2 5FR)
  • Lydney (GL14 4EJ) 

Funding: up to £50,000
Deadline: 17th June 2022

 Hilden Charitable Fund

Following a review of its grants making, the Hilden Charitable Fund has launched two new funding programmes that are now open for applications. Funding is available for projects that support the needs and integration of Asylum Seekers and Refugees as well as projects that help prisoners (especially women) cope and/or maintain family bonds and to be better able to resettle positively when released. The Fund also welcomes applications for post-release projects which support positive resettlement and a reduction in the likelihood of reoffending.

Funding: between £5,000 and £7,000
Deadline: The closing date for applications is 3rd July 2022
