End of Term Wrap-Up

It’s been a brilliant year for climate and ecological action in Camden schools!

A huge thank you to all of the schools who have signed the Camden School Climate Charter, as well as the teachers, SLT, governors and support staff who have dedicated time to barrier-bust, support students with their school climate initiatives and attend our events over the last academic year.

We are really proud of the eco-system that continues to go from strength to strength, and the amazing projects, passion and shared learning demonstrated by the school community as a result.

We look forward to continuing to work with you all and expand the school network even further in the next academic year.

There will be more exciting free offers next year to inspire you to undertake further climate action, as well as more barrier-buster sessions, thought-provoking events and opportunities for collaboration with community and business partners.

Enjoy the summer break - you've all earned it!

Action Required: Charter Signatories - Progress Survey

Since the launch of the Camden School Climate Charter in November 2021, 24 schools have signed the charter and are busy delivering climate action in their schools!

An important part of delivering the Charter is monitoring the impact this is having across Camden's school network and how local action is helping to reduce carbon emissions in Camden.

This is to:

  • Understand the impact individual schools are having
  • Identify where additional support may be required; and to
  • Celebrate your climate action milestones!

We are asking schools to complete the short survey to tell us how they are working towards their charter commitments.

This survey will form the basis of an annual reporting process, whereby a survey will be circulated for completion before the end of each academic year.

Please complete the survey by Friday 22 July.

Fill in the progress report survey by 22 July

Apply for Veolia Fruit Trees - Friday 8 July

Veolia has partnered with Groundwork to launch a new campaign to help schools blossom with biodiversity as part of their UK Sustainable Schools programme.

Schools can apply to receive up to 5 young fruit trees to create mini orchards at their school and help grow the national network of fruit orchards. Planting is due to take place in September and October 2023.

The aim of the initiative is to improve biodiversity at schools, provide a learning resource for pupils and offer them an ongoing supply of fresh fruit.

This is a great opportunity to build on some of the brilliant rewilding projects that have already been taking place through the Camden BeeLine!

Deadline to apply is Friday 8 July. Find out more here
