How to Get Information About Old Town

We all want to know what is going on in Old Town and to stay in the loop. The following are the best methods to stay in the loop:
  • Old Town Albuquerque Newsletter (This newsletter): Sent out once a month and for special events or notices, this newsletter is the BEST source to get a summary overview of what has happened in Old Town the past month. This newsletter was initially started by Kathy Hiatt as a method to keep the information flowing to all those interested in Old Town. If you know of anyone who wants to receive this newsletter, they can sign up for the Old Town newsletter here.
  • Crime & Security Safety What's App Group: Specifically created to notify Old Town people immediately of incidents related to crime and security issues. Message Pete Kasetas via What's App (505) 980-2323 and ask him to add you to the Old Town Notification list.
  • Old Town Merchant Outreach - Facebook Group: A great place to share information and have a chat with Old Town Merchants. This is a private group and you must request access. In Facebook, search for "Old Town Merchant Outreach - An Independent Group".
  • Events in Old Town: View the official events page for Old Town Albuquerque here.
  • Talk to Your Neighbors: One way that we can become a better community is by chatting with our neighbors. There is nothing better than a good ol' chat with an Old Town neighbor :)

AlbuquerqueOldTown.com is Reimagined

A huge "thanks" to Steve Hiatt who has managed the AlbuquerqueOldTown website for the past 8 years; Old Town is forever grateful for your stewardship. The website has been redesigned to bring it up to date and to make it responsive (viewable equally as well on a mobile device and on a computer). There are a lot of plans for the future of the website, but for the immediate future, we are working on a process so that each merchant can list and/or edit their business. Give us a few more weeks to finalize this process. In the meantime, you can peruse the new website.

Events in Old Town:

There is an official events page for Old Town Albuquerque. All the events in Old Town from now through Holiday Shop and Stroll in December have been added. You can subscribe to the Old Town Events calendar too by scrolling all the way down and clicking on "Subscribe".
  • Publish Your Events: By next month you should have the ability to add your event to this list. For example, do you have live music in your plaza or patio courtyard? In the meantime, if you know you will want to publish your own events, send an email so you can receive notice as to when that feature is live.

Tribute to Ruby the Cat

Petals, Midnight…well, that was just one of the many names Old Town merchants gave her, but we called her “Ruby.” Every morning, 10 o’clock sharp, she would greet us upon opening the store waiting for her breakfast. And boy o boy, she got fed the very best; Fancy Feast and crunchies served in the coolest dish, thanks to our generous boss. Ruby would walk inside, stay a bit to mingle with customers, then off she’d go. She roamed around Old Town and since other store owners knew her, we figured she got fed lunch and dinner elsewhere. A good week had passed and Ruby hadn’t come around in the morning. Such a sweet, adorable kitty with personality, we thought maybe someone had picked her up to take home. I wish that had been the case. Last week my boss found out that Ruby was stabbed to death; shocked with disbelief that some deranged, heartless, evil person would do such a thing, we all cried and cried. Another merchant had found her little body in the morning and buried her. I hope Karma catches up with whoever tortured Ruby and that this person is caught and brought to justice. With everything that is happening in the world, we still look for hope and joy in our lives. Ruby did that for us. We loved her dearly. I hope that it’s true cats have 9 lives and that her other 8 lives are filled with the tenderness and love she deserves. Ruby, we miss you.
