T-Shirt Project
Dear friends,
The time has come to live our values out loud-once again!
We are organizing a t-shirt making and installation that will center reproductive rights for all women and is in response and protest to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade. We will have everything needed to write your message in support of reproductive rights on a t-shirt that will be hung on a clothesline in the church’s front yard.  We ask you to bring a t-shirt, old or new, different sizes and colors preferred! You can turn an old t-shirt inside out also!
We will have waterproof markers for cloth.  We need the old-fashioned wire coat hangers and clothesline-if you have and can donate, please let Rita know. We also need a few poles to put in the ground to support the clothesline and shirts. 
The coat hanger serves as a symbol of the reproductive rights movement and a reminder of the gruesome pre-Roe era. Unfortunately, it will now serve as a reminder of the post-Roe era. It symbolizes a desperate last resort for women who have been denied legal abortion services.
Anyone is welcome to drop in and write your message on your t-shirt with your friends. We will invite the community, so feel free to bring a friend or too.  
The messages need to be large enough to be read from the street. No profanity or graphic language, please.
Drop in on Thursday July 28 from 1-3 pm or Saturday July 30 from 10 am-2 pm. You may also make one at home and someone will pick it up from you or you can drop it off at the church. (Universal justice volunteers will make final decisions on appropriate messages and will do all of the hanging.)

Over five weeks this summer we will read key religious and spiritual works by Unitarian minister and Transcendentalist philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson. We will use Emerson’s work as a window into learning about the important spiritual and theological insights of our Unitarian Universalist tradition. Participants will need to purchase a copy of David Robinson’s, The Spiritual Emerson, published by the UUA’s Beacon Press. The books are $20 and will be available from the church office beginning Sunday June 26th. (If the cost is a barrier, just let me know and we can cover the costs of the book.)

Help Write Postcards to Voters
Calling All Good Trouble Makers – Join us in air-conditioned Stevens Chapel to write non-partisan postcards to voters on Tuesday, July 12, at 3 pm.  Our postcards support Reclaim Our Vote’s mission “. . . to empower under-represented voters to fully participate in elections.”  We will meet again on Wednesday, July 20, to finish our first batch of postcards.  We can set you up to write postcards at home if that is easier for you.  UUSMV has set a goal of writing 1,500 postcards in the next few months.  Thanks for making Good Trouble.  The Good Trouble Team.
