Amazon Prime

Now that the big summer holiday event is history, you might think that the so called “dog days” of boring, hot summer are here. Not so fast! Why? It’s because Amazon has an unofficial holiday just around the corner, and it comes next week on July 12th & 13th, Prime Days!

I’m not always a fan of just adding to my monthly bills for no good reason, but a free trial drew me in and I am seeing the benefits it can offer.

The online retail giant is already showing off some of the hot shopping deals in the new early ads for these sale days. They include deals on appliances like the Shark robot vacuum, Ninja blender, and even more as well as mattresses—and all on sale!

Of course to take advantage of the best deals, you need to be a member of Amazon Prime, but if it’s something you will use regularly, the perks are pretty substantial and Prime Days are just one example of that!

Want to just try it out and see what it’s like? New members can now get Prime for free for 30 days! Along with your free membership, you’ll also get free delivery, award-winning TV channels, exclusive deals like “Prime Days” and even more!

Enjoy same-day, one-day, and two-day delivery on millions of items for free. That includes groceries with a 2-hour delivery on a wide selection of fresh ingredients. You can even shop all week long and then get all your deliveries on one single day.

If you decide to keep it, it’s $14.99/month (plus tax) after the free trial. You can cancel anytime with no additional fees.

There are even bigger discounts if you sign up and qualify, like the annual rate of $139 per year after trial, or if you are a student, you can get 50% off with Prime Student for just $7.49 per month after trial!

Even those on government assistance programs like SNAP can save with a monthly fee of just $6.99 per month after trial.

Additional Prime benefits when you sign up include:

  • Prime gaming for free games, exclusive in-game content, and a free Twitch channel subscription every month.
  • Rx savings on prescriptions at 60,000 pharmacies, including Walgreens, CVS, and Amazon Pharmacy.
  • Prime Reading to enjoy hundreds of new books, magazines, and more each month.
  • Amazon Photos so you can enjoy unlimited, full-resolution photo storage.
  • Prime Try Before You Buy on fashion items before you buy, and only pay for what you keep.

Adulting 101: 9 Steps of Personal Finances for Grown-Ups
When you are a child, someone usually takes care of your finances for you, even if you hate that! That someone is most likely to be mom or dad or a guardian, but whomever it is, they try to make sure you have everything you need until that day comes when you fly away from the nest – so to speak. The hope is, of course, that you don’t try to fly and then crash and burn as you hit the ground, but even with help, you might. That’s the reason that Adulting 101 is so important. It’s time to learn personal finances for yourself now that you are a grown-up (no matter how grown up you may already be)!

Now That You’re on Your Own, What Will You Need?

There is a long list of basics that everyone needs in order to be financially secure, or at least try to be. They’re not new and they’re not complicated, but it seems that so many of us fail to “get it”, that is the real importance of these things. It’s that safety net you’ll need when you do jump from the nest and will

5 Unwritten Money Rules You Need to Know to Succeed
Learning how to manage your money is a skill that must be learned and mastered or else. You could go to the library or a book store and seek out a guide to your money and finances that would have chapter upon chapter about the rules of finances and you’d certainly have a leg up on learning about it. But what about those unwritten money rules?

Unfortunately, for a good majority of us, the skill of learning those rules comes from the school of hard knocks. Money management and personal finance principles aren’t the big “important” subjects that are taught in schools, although that does seems to be improving slightly. Even so, the rules about money are not always written down on a neat short list for you to learn, but there are actually unwritten money rules you need to know.

Why Are Money Rules So Important?

We have lots of rules for just about everything we do in life, many of

Super Saving Tip of the Week:

It’s just two cents, but it irks me to no end! The price of the Forever stamp is going up again next week (last time it was August 2021) from $0.58 to $0.60 a stamp. Inflation is the USPS excuse and while it may be true, it doesn’t need to be this way. With its increase and the declining service they have been providing (mainly due to lack of help it seems), you can guess why it’s not a good thing to do.

Years ago, I wrote to the Postmaster General about changing the stamps into an advertising vehicle and have companies like McDonald’s or Hershey’s pay for the stamps so we get to use them for free (or at least never have any price increases again!).

Can you imagine a Hershey’s stamp that you can lick and it tastes chocolatey? How fast would these companies line up to advertise?

I am still waiting for the Postmaster General to answer my letter, but hey, it’s only been 37 years and I am a patient man.

So be forewarned here and stock up now before the prices go up next week! Forever stamps are good...forever!
