Support Anil Kadian's journey to the next para-athletics medal

Dear Member,

Sometimes we come across a fundraising cause that is bigger than any and all of us. This is one such cause. Anil Kadian is a Fashion Communications graduate (2015) from NIFT and a Para Athlete. At a very young age, Anil was diagnosed with polio below his chest. Even with four surgeries his condition didn't improve. Anil showed enormous resolve and decided to live his life with a positive mindset. While watching the 2012 London Paralympics he saw international para-athlete David Weir win four gold medals in wheelchair racing.

On graduation from NIFT, Anil received an offer letter from a design studio, but decided to be a professional para-athlete. Initially he was discouraged by many, including several coaches, from following up on wheelchair racing. Working hard for 2 years he qualified for an international tour in Germany world para-athletics grand prix in 2018. Anil entered discus and shot-put events, but his heart and mind were set on the track events. He won 2 silver medals at that event. At the Asian Para Games after that he connected with a few racing athletes, and bought his own racing wheelchair with the help of a Swiss friend. Since then he has won 3 national championship medals, 3 half marathon medals and 2 international medals during his training in Switzerland. He is preparing to to compete in the World Championship in Paris and the Asian Para Games in China in 2023, and is aiming to to score a podium finish at the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games.

To get there, he needs to train hard and upgrade his equipment, and is looking forward to funding and sponsorship support from all sources, especially from NIFT and fellow-NIFTians. He needs to attend a training camp in Switzerland and to also buy a new racing wheelchair, because equipment can make the difference between a medal or none, within a few micro-seconds.

Here's a short video appeal from Anil himself: https://youtu.be/1QKIfC0OdRw

The funds needed are::

  1. Immediate (Before 10th July) - Rs. 4.6 Lakhs for the training camp (travelling, coaching and accomodation)
  2. Purchase of a new racing wheelchair - about Rs. 6 Lakhs.
