SLSA Annual Policy Review

As part of SLSA's annual policy review the SLSA Board has endorsed a number of amended Policies, which are all available on the SLS Members Area. The Social Media Policy (6.20), Sponsorship Policy (6.28) and IT Systems - Terms of Use Policy (6.19) have had amendments made. These policies are particularly important for Clubs to understand.

Further SLSA’s Integrity Policies have also undergone a significant review, to ensure that they are best practice and meet the Standards set by Sport Integrity Australia. The Integrity Policies are made up by the following policies:

  • 5.11 - Competition Manipulation and Wagering Policy

  • 6.00 - SLSA Integrity Framework

  • 6.04 - Child Safe Policy & Commitment Statement

  • 6.05 - Member Protection Policy

  • 6.06 - Complaints Resolution Policy

  • 6.23 - Improper Use of Drugs and Medicine in Sport Policy

SLSA is happy to assist clubs and members with questions that arise out of these changes to the policy. We encourage you to reach out to your state or territory entity in the first instance with any enquiries; however, you can contact the team at SLSA by Email.

SLSA Surf Craft Specifications

SLSA has released a bulletin in regards to new Surf Craft Specifications.

After the 2022 Australian Championships in April, it was noted that a more reliable method was required to accurately determine the width measurement of single and double surf skis. It was also noted that a clear definition was required for the foot blocks.

To view the new specification changes please view the SLSA Bulletin below:

The updated document for Craft and Surf Boat Specifications for 2022 can be found on the members area.

Age Manager Mentor Award

In line with SLSA processes moving forward, we are seeking a Junior Activities parent or current Junior Activities Committee member to assume the role/s of Age Manager Mentor. This is not an onerous role and will be focussed on identifying potential Age Managers of the future and guiding them towards the process and, on occasion, gauging competency of Age Managers in training and endorsing them for accreditation on behalf of your club.

This is a new award and will be introduced softly over the coming season but is designed to ensure that all Child Safe Awareness protocols are strictly adhered to that all candidates meet the endorsement requirements of their respective clubs in the aim to keep our volunteers protected, and our programs inclusive.

For more details please contact Shayne Jupp via Email or Phone

2022 Community Infrastructure Grants

The Tasmanian Community Fund will be calling for applications ($50,000-$300,000) to support community infrastructure projects that contribute to community wellbeing.

The Tasmanian Community Fund recognises the community’s ongoing need for infrastructure that provides places for the community to participate, build connection and learn. Priority will be given to community infrastructure projects in rural and regional Tasmania unless the infrastructure is aimed at reducing entrenched disadvantage.

Expressions of interest open on the 6th August 2022 and close 14th September 2022.

Any interested applicants are encouraged to discuss project ideas with the TCF staff via Phone. Applications will be taken via the Tasmanian Community Fund Website when expressions of interests open. Their website is linked below.
