Pharmacy startup Gifthealth, from ScriptDrop founder, projected to top $30M sales

  • Columbus-based Gifthealth Inc. started this year aiming for $30 million in revenue and now expects to comfortably exceed that after $3 million in sales in the month of June alone.

  • The startup projects $85 million in revenue in 2023, co-founder and CEO Nick Potts said. Within five years, he wants the startup on a path to IPO and serving millions of patients weekly.

  • Gifthealth also is a general pharmacy, but specialized focus areas like colonoscopy prep kits unlocked faster growth.

  • The software integrates with electronic health records, and doctors customize the platform to send out their specific diet instructions to patients and automate text reminders of when to start preparing. Meanwhile its analytics draw on some 100 million past prescription claims to inform its model for finding the best price and available inventory.

Columbus ticketing startup's $75M, Branch unicorn round buck VC trends for Q2

  • The two biggest funding rounds for Columbus tech startups so far this year came in the second quarter, even as investment sizes are shrinking across the country.

  • HomeTown Ticketing Inc. raised $75 million in April from Nexa Equity, according to a news release. Since a 2019 relaunch, the Columbus company is using proceeds to add tech features and meet customer demand quickly growing.

  • Then came the year's largest round to date – $147 million for Branch Insurance in June at a unicorn valuation of $1.05 billion. That Series C was led by Weatherford Capital.

  • Investors are more cautious this year after shattering records in 2021, according to PitchBook/NVCA. While some 1,400 VC deals announced this year are at the same pace as last year's deal counts, the size of each round "has declined rather significantly across all stages."
