Public Impact Award Nominations Closing Soon.
|
|
|
The Public Impact Award has been created by Research Nova Scotia to recognize a Nova Scotian researcher in academia, a public research institution, government, or the private sector, whose research has benefited Nova Scotians by tangibly improving the economy, environment, healthcare system, or society. The recipient’s work will have been developed in response to the needs of society and is solving a problem, managing a risk, or creating an opportunity for Nova Scotians.
The Award will be presented at the 20th Annual Discovery Awards on Wednesday, November 23 at the Halifax Convention Centre in Halifax, NS.

RNS and Forestry Innovation Transition Trust investing $5.38 million to deliver a 3-Year Forestry Research Program.
|
|
|
Research Nova Scotia is partnering with the Forestry Innovation Transition Trust (FITT) to deliver a three-year forestry research program. This program will work to harness the creativity and expertise of Canada’s research community to support Nova Scotia’s transition to an ecological forestry model. The research program builds on Research Nova Scotia’s forestry research agenda work in 2021, which identified the knowledge gaps and opportunities facing the forestry sector as it adapts to a changing climate and transitions for the future.

Ukrainian Emergency Research Support Fund.
|
|
|
The Ukrainian Emergency Research Support Fund will provide funding to undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and researchers who are accepted by a Nova Scotian institution to continue their research work. Postsecondary research institutions and research-focused organizations are eligible hosts for the grants, which are intended to offset some of the costs of outfitting offices and labs, renting out or sharing equipment, and integrating visiting Ukrainians into a Nova Scotian education system.

|
As the largest non-governmental funder of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research in Canada, Crohn’s and Colitis Canada proudly celebrates and recognizes Canadian IBD researchers for their exceptional contributions to the field of IBD research through four awards.

The Gairdner Foundation Award Calls
|
|
Canada Gairdner International Award
Five $100,000 awards given annually
Awarded to outstanding biomedical scientists who have made original contributions to medicine resulting in an increased understanding of human biology and disease.
The award is intended for seminal bodies of work, not cumulative lifetime achievement. Self-nominations not accepted for the International Award.

John Dirks Canada Gairdner Global Health Award
One $100,000 award given annually (can be shared)
Awarded for scientifically based research that has improved the health and well-being of those facing health inequities worldwide.

The Robin Rigby Trust Call for Proposals 2022: Collaborative Coastal Research
|
|
Proposals are invited from qualified individuals seeking financial support to undertake collaborative research projects that focus on understanding and implementing conservation and sustainable development in coastal areas.

Transforming Health with Integrated Care Implementation Science Team Grants
|
|
Transforming Health with Integrated Care (THINC) Implementation Science Team (IST) Grants focus on improving our understanding of how to implement, evaluate, and spread/scale (share) transformative evidence-informed integrated care policies and interventions towards advancing the Quadruple Aim and health equity (sometimes known as the Quintuple Aim). Incorporating health equity as a fifth aim recognizes the critical importance of ensuring that health system transformation is pursued and realized equitably. The IST Grants are a major component of the THINC research initiative, which is led by CIHR's Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR) in collaboration with multiple institutes, initiatives, and partners.

Over the last couple of years, RNS has pursued a mission-oriented research strategy to tackle big, complex challenges in Nova Scotia. This strategy starts with what we want to accomplish and builds a research agenda and coalition of partners to help achieve these goals. By focusing on the goal, we can support many different types of ideas all seeking to find common ground: science and social science, fundamental and applied research can each play a role.
As a province, we face many grand challenges; equally, we are rich in resources, assets and expertise that can grab hold of opportunities. But we cannot do it alone: we need creative and collaborative partners, researchers, and uptake organizations who are willing to work together to find solutions.
