Hej all,
June was a busy month for the lodge. Our delegates came back from convention in Portland, then we held Midtsommer celebrations with Taste of Norway, the Nordic Market, decorating, raising, and dancing around the Maistang, and then finally the Viking bonfire. It was an amazing time to be in this town and to be a part of this lodge. Our town of Poulsbo isn’t quite “Little Norway” without the Sons of Norway in the middle, doing its thing with the food, costumes, crafts, heritage, and dance. I am proud of the volunteers putting on an excellent program selling traditional Norwegian food, performing traditional festivities, and toasting a hearty “Skol” in the Trolls’ Den to celebrate a job well done.
Those of us that went to convention in Portland were treated to a wonderful time with other lodges participating in the governance of our district, learning more about what our International headquarters is doing for us, and keeping in touch with our fraternal brothers and sisters in Oregon, Idaho, Alaska and Washington. We were reminded that we are a part of an insurance company that subsidizes our fraternal operation. The Sons of Norway offers life insurance and annuity products that are a good value. If you are in the market for such products please look online at www.sofn.com for more information. The lodge gets a little payment for each member who buys a product. It’s another way to offer your support to the lodge. Thanks!
The lodge building is 50 years old this year and the Trolls’ Den is having special celebrations every last Saturday of the month. More information is in this newsletter and on Facebook. Hope you can join us, it seems that the lodge improves every time I go down there, with new paint, window treatments, and deck features. It is a fun place to hang out and be with friends, especially when we have a dinner Friday night. See you down at the lodge!
Fred vaere med deg,
Paul Anunson
