Arvind Panagariya is the Jagdish Bhagwati Professor of Indian Political Economy and a Professor of Economics at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. From 2015 to 2017, he served as the first Vice Chairman of the NITI Aayog, Government of India in the rank of a Cabinet Minister. Previously, he has worked with the World Bank, IMF and UNCTAD, and in 2012 he was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India, the third highest civilian honor. Professor Panagariya is a prolific writer who has authored several books, scientific and policy papers that have appeared in top economic and policy journals. His monthly column appears in the Times of India and his guest columns have appeared in the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal.
