Hi there
It's time to get this project back on track.
For lots of personal reasons, I wasn't able to devote the usual amount of time to Days for Girls Gold Coast but hopefully, this is all behind us. Having said this, I am looking for a Batman and Robin for another not-so-famous duo as I have outlined later.
COVID really caused an abundance of problems as well and it was during this time that we lost the momentum that was going so strongly before COVID hit. Sewing at home has never stopped but the sewing days have been much quieter of late with only around 15 at the last one but, even so, we still managed to pack 120 kits so thank you to everyone who is still able to help.
So my message to you is:
The change in venue has also possibly not helped as it is a little confusing and we have also had problems with gates being locked.
We are still lucky enough that we have been able to get help from Trinity Lutheran College but no longer meet at the campus at 251 Cotlew Street, Ashmore which is near Freda Street but instead, we are now meeting at their campus at 641 Ashmore Road, Ashmore.
This diagram really sets out how to get there very easily but if you do get stuck, call me on 0414818741.

Funding
This has been a challenge over the last two 2 years as our normal source of funds basically stopped being able to fundraise but I am really pleased and appreciative of funds that have been received over the last 12 months from:

I am so sorry if I have missed anyone. Keeping track is always the hard part but we appreciate every little thing whether it is a contribution to morning tea or a pair of knickers.
Dynamic Duo Needed
Are you looking to step up your volunteering! The Gold Coast team is looking for volunteers to take over the leadership roles of our team.
8 years is a long time to run something like this and our lives are changing over the next few years with Denise retiring and Bruce & I planning a lot of travelling. The team could really use a breath of fresh air to carry this forward and we love to see others transition into the roles.
There is incredible support available both from Days for Girls Australia and the International team and I will still be very much involved but the logistics mean that the day-to-day running would be hard for me.
The new team could be individuals that want to come together as a team or it could be a service club such as a Rotary Club or even a Church group.
The personal satisfaction that you will feel from a project such as this is enormous and I have been privileged to have been involved in such a great organisation.

Kits
Yay! The borders are open and travel is getting easier.
We also now have the opportunity to get some kits across to Bali to Bali Family Foundation who have been distributing these for a few years now.
They will collect the kits directly from your hotel so it is a really easy process. You can just message them and we usually just leave the kits with the reception and they will collect.
If you are heading to Bali and have some spare room in your suitcases then they would really appreciate your help. Just email us and we can take it from there.
We also have a new avenue through Rotary and their Donations in Kind that we will be using to get some kits out.
