Dear Friend,

If you didn't catch our last newsletter, we just wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of our last webinar of the academic year which takes place on Tuesday 5 July at 19.00 (BST). In this webinar, we hope to come together with everyone who has joined us on our Montessori Musings journey since we hosted our first webinar in July 2020.

In our final webinar before the summer, we will celebrate all who have supported our work as speakers, facilitators and blog post contributors. We will pause, together with Sid Mohandas, to remember Marlene Barron, and consider her excellent article, Montessori and the Post Modern World, as we reflect on the role of Montessori education in the 21st Century. We will also celebrate the generosity of the Montessori Community as we share the amount of funds raised by you to support Sparkle Malawi. We do hope you will join us and you can register here.

We will continue, next year, to offer a space for the Montessori Community to come together to examine and. reflect on our practice and the Montessori philosophy and pedagogy. As Barbara sets out in this week's blog, Marlene Barron urged us as Montessori teachers to have “ongoing conversations which enable us to explore and question our practice."  We owe our children to continue our spiritual preparation so that we can prepare them for a life "filled with caring, curiosity and commitment to each other and their communities." Our first webinar of the new academic year takes place in September and will focus on the continued spiritual preparation of the adult.

If we don't see you on Tuesday, we wish you a most wonderful break and look forward to continuing our journey in September.
With our warmest wishes,

Applying the EYFS in your Montessori Setting

Our guide, Applying the EYFS in your Montessori Setting, drafted by Barbara Isaacs, is still available. This guide is dedicated to all the amazing Montessori Early Years Teachers, committed to guiding the children in their care so they may reach their full potential.

The guide is available in electronic format only. It is available to all in return for whatever small donation you can make to The Sparkle Foundation, an organisation that attempts to deliver a future in which every community has equal opportunity to live a life of health and self-sufficiency in Malawi. Their integrated approach incorporates four main pillars: education, community, nutrition and healthcare. All reliant on each other to be successful they support children, youth, women and the elderly with a range of programmes that are developed based on the needs of our community.

Their education programme for children under 6 is based on a mix of the Montessori vision with Malawi’s National Early Childhood Development structure, to provide an educational, fun and creative English-speaking environment for the children to begin their journey of learning.

Support their work by making a donation on our Justgiving Page.

Montessori Musings is most grateful for the continued exclusive support of My Montessori Child, the only genuinely Montessori system for early years record-keeping. This support allows us to serve the Montessori Community and to provide free access for all to everything we do.
