Welcome to new subscribers! This section is a news digest of happenings at Leeds-based breweries in the last 7 days. The newsletter is prepared on a Thursday, so any news that breweries release between the final draft and the email arriving in your inbox on a Friday, will be included in the next newsletter. If you want to find out more about a particular piece of news, click the word that is underlined and coloured blue. Finally, if you have seen some news online this week and it isn’t mentioned below, it means I have covered it in a previous issue, or there is not enough information for it to feature yet. If you would like to access a directory of Leeds-based breweries, there’s a link at the bottom of this newsletter. |

A final reminder that Amityfest is this weekend at Amity. Pouring great beers in Farsley alongside Amity are fellow Leeds breweries Northern Monk, Nomadic Beers, Anthology, Horsforth, Tartarus and Kirkstall, joined by Round Corner (Melton Mowbray), Vocation (Hebden Bridge) and Brew York (York). At the time of writing this, just 20 tickets are left.

This week Nomadic Beers headed over to North Riding (Snainton) for a collaboration brew. The beer is going to be a bitter (more details soon), and it is worth sharing the news now just for North Riding Stu’s classic photo pose.

This week North have released another new beer to the supermarket trade. This time it’s Ultra Phase an 8.5% ABV double IPA featuring Citra, Enigma and Simcoe hops. This joins two general release beers. First is DDH Pale Ale, a double dry hopped pale ale (!) brewed in collaboration with Rivington (Chorley). This is 5.5% ABV and made with Idaho 7, Talus, Motueka and Cryo Pop hops. Second is a 4.5% ABV Pineapple and Coconut Lassi Sour collaboration with Bundobust, featuring organic pineapple puree. This weekend is also a celebration of North Bar’s 25th anniversary, with tons going on!

It’s time for a jaunt to Sweden next, as part of Northern Monk’s latest Old Flax Store Series global tour. This month’s selection includes 3.9% ABV OFS076 Sauna Beer Session IPA, 8.1% ABV Double IPA and 5.7% ABV Berry Jam Gose. I am disappointed that there is no Flat Pack Pale. This week also sees the release of the second beer from their wild brewing series. Northern Wild 002 is 5.6% ABV and has been aged for three years with Brett, Pedio and Lacto yeasts, before being bottled with Champagne yeast. If you fancy yourself as a keen and talented homebrewer, Northern Monk have launched this years competition.

The crowdfunding has finished at Piglove, who raised a total of £12,301 in donations. In beer news, new this week is Minka a 4% ABV extra pale ale made with Cascade, Chinook and Admiral hops, blended with Maca Root, an ancient plant from the Andes, once used by the Incas.

And, finally. It’s another new beer from Wilde Childe which is coming 1st August. There has been a few Leeds United-themed beers from the brewery over the last year and the newest one to join the series is The Great Escape a 6% ABV Limited Edition Marching On Together IPA. Included in the hop addition is Citra, Idaho 7, Azacca and Comet.
