New database shines light on environmental justice
|

|
The Safe Drinking Water Act protects the quality of drinking water across the United States but leaves out approximately 2.4 million individuals in the state of North Carolina, the fifth highest population in the United States, who depend on private well water. To better understand this vulnerability, collaborative efforts led by Lauren Eaves, PhD, UNC SRP trainee, resulted in a recent publication and creation of the publicly available database, NCWELL.

New research from UNC SRP’s Project 1 suggests potential therapeutic target for arsenic-associated diabetes. This research resulted in a recent publication exploring the mechanisms connecting inorganic arsenic (iAs) and type 2 diabetes.
