Thousands of piglets being transported along the highway near Quebec City.

"I've just returned from field work and want to share an image. This was not the purpose of the shoot, but I took the opportunity to photograph this truck when the driver stopped for coffee. This is the first time I have seen 6,000 pigs in transport. They were at the beginning of an eight hour drive.

I take the photos. I walk (or run!) away, always thinking, at least: I see you. I've seen you. Your life has been seen. It doesn't help them personally, but the witnessing does turn into something. It does turn into slow momentum, news, books, opinions, discourse, history... something worth resisting."

Thanks to you, our generous supporters, we’ve raised $12,893 of our $15,000 June matching goal. We’re in awe and so grateful that you believe in our mission.

There’s one day left to raise that last $2,107. The final push! Once we hit $15,000 our friends at Mobius are matching it, doubling the impact of your generosity. That $30,000 total will go towards our upcoming investigations and helping to keep our stock platform a streamlined resource free for anyone looking to inspire change.

"Transfarmation" Sneak Peek

Imagine persuading a farmer to switch from farming animals to raising crops. Growing chickpeas and turning their farm into a sanctuary, where the animals who were used for food or destined for slaughter now live peacefully, getting occasional neck rubs. Imagine how many lives that would improve, and the emissions it would reduce.

Sarah Heiligtag has done it 70 times. Our contributors Thomas Machowicz and Sabina Diethelm have been in Switzerland documenting her efforts. In August we tell the full story.

In Case You Missed It: Miguel Endara Interview

Last month we interviewed Miguel Endara, a director, filmmaker and We Animals Media contributor. In 2021 he made a short doc, “Moving Animals,” that follows Jo-Anne as she photographs cows being transported across the Bulgaria-Turkey border. We spoke with him about the role of filmmaking in animal advocacy, and why he does this important work.
