CAMPS CONTINUE TO BE A HIGHLIGHT THIS SUMMER

The Norfolk Youth Theatre Camp (NYT) for 10 - 18-year-olds took place over the last full week of June and performances were held on Saturday, June 25th. Students were able to participate in all aspects of the theatre experience, including tech, costuming, makeup and acting. For some, this is the first introduction to theater but for others this is another fun year in the Youth Theatre Program.

Norfolk Youth Theatre Junior Camp (NYTJr) will take place during the last full week of July. Kids from age 6 - 9 will participate in an immersive introductory experience to the theatre. This camp is offered July 25 – 30 from 9:30 am – 1 pm starting at the Norfolk Arts Center. The campers participate in acting workshops, technical workshops, and are cast in one of the three shows that are performed for the public at the the final performances on July 30 at 10:30 am and 1 pm.
Norfolk Youth Theatre (NYT) and Norfolk Youth Theatre Junior (NYTJr) are offered in partnership with Norfolk Community Theatre.

First Artist Reception for Gallery Artist

Thursday evening on June 9th played host to the opening artist reception for the Norfolk Arts Center’s Summer Exhibitions. Friends, family and members of the public came out to welcome artist, Tammi Reeves, to her first gallery exhibition. While nerves set in beforehand, Tammi gave a wonderful explanation of her work and how events in her life caused her to explore what it means to be a woman and how society influences that definition.

Sophia Ruppert | Atrium Artist
Sophia Ruppert was not able to attend but her artist statement was read to the attendees. Her artwork explores natural material as she repurposes humanmade objects into beautiful art pieces.

The Norfolk Arts Center Ladies Guild provided refreshments for the evening. Stop in the Norfolk Arts Center to see these exhibitions.

Visual Arts Sponsorship

We have some amazing artists making their way into the gallery and atrium scheduled through 2022 and into 2023 and we are looking for sponsors to help bring them in. We will be sending out a visual arts sponsorship brochure soon and this will include examples of the artwork and the sponsorship levels available.
Brochures will be sent to those who have sponsored in the past and those who have yet to sponsor a show or event.
If you are interested in sponsorship and you want to be sure to receive a brochure, please reach out to elley@norfolkartscenter.org or stop in to the Arts Center.
