Supreme Court Rules In Favor of Patient Access to Medications in Ruan v. U.S.

United States that prescribers of opioids and other controlled medications may not be convicted under the Controlled Substances Act for prescribing-related behavior unless a jury finds evidence of criminal intent beyond a reasonable doubt. The decision addresses a substantial source of health care provider reluctance to prescribe controlled medications for conditions like pain, opioid use disorder, anxiety, ADHD, and insomnia. In Case You Missed It

Aimed Alliance Releases Biomarker Maps

Aimed Alliance has launched two new maps to track active and enacted biomarker legislation. Biomarker testing provides health care professionals with important information that can help them select and monitor treatments and develop more personalized treatment plans for patients. Yet, due to lack of coverage and burdensome prior authorization policies, these tests are not as widely available as they should be. Therefore, states have begun introducing legislation that would require health plans to cover biomarker testing and limit how health plans can impose prior authorization on biomarker testing. View our Active Legislation Map here and our Enacted Laws Map here.
