GSAS OFFICE OF RESIDENTAL LIFE CLOSED FOR FOURTH OF JULY
The GSAS Office of Residential Life and all other Harvard offices will be closed on Friday, July 1 and Monday, July 4 for the Fourth of July holiday. Our office will re-open on Tuesday, July 5 at 9:00am.

COVID-19 TEST KIT CHANGE
The University will be switching COVID testing facilities and will have updated test kits. The new test kits will have a cotton swab to collect the sample instead of the hard plastic piece. The test kits with the plastic sample collector will not be accepted by the new testing facility starting Tuesday, July 5. When submitted a COVID test, please be sure you submit the cotton swab test kit.

Tests will not be collected from Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 4. Test kit pick-up and processing will resume on Tuesday, July 5.

HARVARD SQUARE HOMELESS SHELTER:  SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
The Harvard Square Homeless Shelter and Y2Y Youth Shelter will be running over this upcoming Summer (6/15-8/10), and we need your help to keep them open! If you will be in the Cambridge-Boston area over this Summer, we would love to have you join our team, and we ask you to please sign up using this application for HSHS and this application for Y2Y as soon as possible. In addition, for information about our volunteer policies, please find out more by reading our volunteer handbooks for HSHS and Y2Y! Thank you so much for your support, and please reach out to hsss.volunteer@gmail.com or volunteer@y2yharvardsquare.org with any questions.

FALL 2022 MOVE-IN CREW
Our office is looking to hire students to assist with fall move-in.  Move-in crew will assist residents moving in by helping them carry their belongings to their room.  There will be approximately 2-3 move-in crew members assigned to each of our four residence halls.  The shifts will take place on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20 from 12:00pm (noon) to 8:00pm (additional shifts may be added as needed).  The pay is $15 an hour.  If interested, please submit this form by Monday, August 1 at 5:00pm.

CRANES AT 58 AND 60 OXFORD STREET
On Wednesday, July 6, the contractor working at 58 Oxford Street will be bringing in a crane at the building’s loading dock area to support the removal and placement of mechanical equipment on the roof. This is a one-day operation from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The crane will access the site from Everett Street at 7:00 am, turning left at the Oxford Street garage, and then left to position itself behind the building outside the site fence.

On Friday, July 8, the 60 Oxford Street project will be bringing in a crane at the building’s loading dock area to lift materials onto the roof. This is also a one-day operation from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and the crane will access the loading dock area via the same route as above.

A Harvard University Police Department detail will be on site to provide support on both days.  The cranes will exit the area via the same route around 5:00 pm.  Neighbors can anticipate some additional noise on these days due to the increased activity, roof hoists, and equipment in use at 58 and 60 Oxford Street.

PIANO ACCESS
If you would like access to Richards Basement Lounge to play the piano, please email our office at gsasreslife@fas.harvard.edu to have your ID programmed for use on the Richards Basement door. Residents can use the piano from 9:00am – 10:00pm.

SUMMER ROOM BILLING
Billing for summer rooms will be posted to student accounts next week. You will be able to see your bill on your my.harvard account. Questions about payment options, deadlines, etc. can be directed to Student Financial Services

SUMMER MOVE-OUT AND INTERIM HOUSING
The move-out deadline for the summer term is Friday, August 5 at 12:00pm (NOON). Directions for move-out will be provided in late July.

If you are offered and accept a room in the GSAS residence halls for the academic year, you will be eligible for interim housing. Interim housing spans from Friday, August 5 through Friday, August 19.  Only students who have signed a contract for the 2022-2023 academic year are eligible for interim housing. The cost for interim housing is $200 and will be billed to your my.harvard account at the beginning of August. You will be able to stay in your summer Perkins room until you academic year room is ready for move-in (if applicable).

Please note that facilities staff do a lot of deep cleaning and loud work during this time to prepare for the academic year move-in. The Office of Residential Life will do our best to notify residents of any loud work being done in the building, but some work may be time sensitive and advance notice will be difficult.
