Dear <<First Name>>,

Street Church Ministries has committed to sending quarterly updates and prayer requests to our supporters.  W
e can’t tell you enough how much your partnership and friendship means to us.  Please continue to pray over our ministry.  We hope you find these messages encouraging.

Second Quarter Update
2022

Sunday Church Service and Wednesday Bible Study
We have continued to hold our weekly Sunday Church Service at the Outreach Center which is typically 20 to 25 people.  We also hold a discipleship Bible study on Wednesday evenings with our core group of disciples where we have been going through the book of John. We will be finishing the book of John this week and moving on to our next chapter by chapter study of another book in the Bible.

We were able to provide help with a security deposit for a man that is part of our fellowship and rental assistance for a pregnant woman named Kayce that attends the Wednesday evening Bible study.  We were also able to bless Kayce with baby clothes, bottles, blankets that she needed when the baby arrived. Baby Ricardo was born on 5/11/2022 and is doing well.

Community Outreach Events
We have continued Saturday Outreach Events each month. Here is a list of the Outreach Events we have held so far this year in partnership with our supporting churches:

Addiction Services Assistance
This quarter we were able to coordinate admittance and provide transportation for a woman named Tia to a detox center in Newark for methadone.  We were also able to send a young woman named Reina, who has dealt with addiction and has been the victim of domestic abuse, to the Hoving Home for Women. This is a long term recovery program where Pastor Tony leads the Chapel Service on a monthly basis. We were able to see Reina at the Chapel Service in June and were happy to find that she is doing well.
Community Food Pantry
Over the last several months we have been able to provide food bags to dozens of families in the community from our food pantry partnership with Mercer Street Friends. This has been an invaluable resource for the working poor families on our block.

Other Needs
We provided Uber transportation for several people to help them get to doctor appointments on a regular basis.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
We held our second 10-week class of the year to piggy-back on the success of the first class.  These sessions ranged from 8 to 13 attendees per week.

New Christian Counseling Program

We began our new Christian Counseling Program for both families and individuals at our Outreach Center. There is such a need for a faith based approach to counseling in Trenton. Many of the people we minister to are chronically homeless or living in transitional housing. Some may be struggling with mental health issues and/or substance abuse issues. Many are meeting with secular counselors on a regular basis.  We are offering the Christian counseling program in addition to any secular counseling they are already receiving.

We currently have one counselor that comes to the Outreach Center weekly and we have three people attending weekly scheduled counseling appointments.   We are seeking additional certified Christian counselors willing to meet with individual clients at the Street Church Ministries Outreach Center on a regular basis.  Ideally counsellors will meet with clients every week initially and then as agreed mutually thereafter. It is anticipated that each session will last 60-90 minutes.  Clients will generally not be in a position to pay for their sessions.  Wherever possible, Street Church Ministries will appreciate counsellors providing their services pro bono.  However, there are finances set aside to compensate counsellors as necessary, in order that clients may receive the help they need.

Fall Men's Retreat
We are in the process of planning a three-day men's retreat in conjunction with the men from our Partner Churches Celebration Community Church and Living Hope Church.

Prayer Requests
Please pray that God will continue to provide the resources for the services we are providing at the Outreach Center.  Also, pray that the Lord will soften the hearts of our core group of disciples, make Himself known to them in a deeper and more profound way and that they would experience breakthroughs in the struggles in their lives.

For our Ministry Team, please pray that God will sustain our passion for serving the community and our church and that the Holy Spirit will guide us in any decision making.

God has been touching and transforming lives within the City of Trenton.  We hope you will find what you read in this update encouraging.
