President's Message

Greetings from WAHA,

Summer is here in Wisconsin, which means it's time to get outside and enjoy our Arabian horses!

We are looking forward to our annual WAHA August show this year, which will be in July at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds (July 30-31st, 2022).  This show will be two jam-packed days of traditional pleasure classes, sport horse classes, dressage, and more.  Stay tuned for more details on this show.  All of the entry forms and information are available on the WAHA website and pre-entries close July 21st, 2022.  We NEED volunteers for this show.  If you are able to volunteer please reach out at jessiebugs@hotmail.com to let us know when you are available.  Friday evening before the show we will be having an exhibitor party, a WAHA member meeting, and fun classes for horses and dogs.  All are welcome to attend.  Our August show is the last qualifier for Sport Horse Nationals in our region, and of course, it can be used for all AHA qualification needs.

Our annual Fall Colors Open Show is scheduled for October 8th, 2022 at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn, WI.  The committee has been hard at work on the details of that show and our popular championship classes will be offered for each division once again.  This year show clothing will be optional and western horses of any age may be ridden two handed in a snaffle.

Midwest Horse Fair returned after a two year hiatus and it was a memorable one.  Region 10 had an Arabian demo organized by our member and volunteer Jessica Holloway, who did a wonderful job getting everything organized.

WAHA needs volunteers to help our shows in multiple roles.  If we cannot use volunteers for roles, we have to pay staff and this club will not be able to sustain itself.  If you're interested in volunteering please email me at jessiebugs@hotmail.com.  We look forward to seeing our members out and about this summer!

Sincerely,

Jessica Dillingham
WAHA President

Arabians Returned to Midwest Horse Fair
The Arabians and Half Arabians were well represented at the 2022 Midwest Horse Fair, in a collaboration between the Region 10 Arabian clubs.  The Arabians participated in breed demos that showed off a wide variety of disciplines, truly highlighting the breed's versatility.  They also volunteered horses for the judging contest, creating a halter class and a hunter pleasure class.  Horse fair visitors were able to get up close and personal with the horses back at their stalls.  A special thank you to all who volunteered time with their horses at the horse fair, and especially to Jessica Hollewell, the breed demo coordinator!
