High-speed Train and Preaching
It has been a good start to preaching through a translator. The missionaries who started the church had to leave on medical furlough, so an opportunity to preach opened up which I am happy to fill. I have been traveling down to Kaohsiung (a city 100 miles south of us, see video here) via high-speed train to teach the Word on Sunday morning. In the same day, I am able to return to Taichung and worship at an evening church service with my wife and children. Last Sunday, a Taiwanese man shared how much he enjoyed the Bible teaching. I want to give all the glory to God as faith comes by hearing the preached Word and by the working of the Spirit of God. It brings me immense joy to make great the name of Christ every time I get to preach!
Tea and the Holy Spirit
Recently, I met up with a Taiwanese man to chat over tea. I learned that he grew up attending a Taiwanese Christian church regularly. Sadly, he left the faith for 6 years. Only recently has he started returning to church. He seeks support from a community of believers, and desires to have the Spirit of God guide him in life, but he is discouraged that he doesn’t have the feeling of the Spirit. I explained that the Spirit of God comes as a result of the grace of God, through faith in Christ alone. I also cautioned him how we must test the spirits to see whether or not they are of God. I will continue to encourage him onto repentance and belief in Christ.
Homeschooling and Friends
This Summer we joined a homeschooling group in Taiwan. It has been a fun time of learning and making friends. We thank God our children are growing up enjoying life in Taiwan.
