Week Two - Rivers, Streams and Growing Things  
It's about critters that live in wet ecosystems in or near the water. We'll learn about them and some we'll visit in JMDC's Critter Corner.

Week Two (July 4th – July 8th) – Rivers, Streams, and Living Things

Every living thing needs water to survive! This week, Explorers will discover the importance of water within an ecosystem while meeting some live animals that call these places home. Each day will focus on a major waterway of the world and the wildlife that call them home. Encounter snakes of the Amazon River, learn about hippos on the Nile River, and sail away with us up the Mississippi. Explorers will learn about the ecosystems that these rivers support. Explorers will encounter all forms of life from reptiles to fungi and more. Get wild, get wet, and discover the life below the ripples.

Week Three - Environmental Superhero
Become a Superhero defending the earth, learning what you can do. Join an EnviroQuest, learn how to take care of our one and only earth.

Week Three (July 11th – July 15th) – Environmental Superhero

Are you looking for a superhero quest? We have a mission! Our environment needs to be rescued. Explorer will become eco heroes and learn ways to take care of our home. Tag along on our adventure through the Earth and her processes. Explorers will discover ways they can help to save the environment, through upcycling craft projects, alternative energies, and nature hikes. Go green this week and become an environmental superhero!

Week Four - Giants of Science
Walk in the footsteps of Science Greatest individuals. Learn about them and the experiments the made household names known round the world.

Week Four (July 18th – July 22nd) – Giants of Science

Humans have asked questions since the very beginning. Today we have many questions answered based on the minds of the past. Why does my pencil fall? Where does the moon go at night? Why do some animals look weird? Travel to the past with us to the greatest moments in the history of science here these questions got answered. This week will be focused on the most famous experiments and inventions in history. Explorers will learn about motion with Sir Isaac Newton, encounter Galileo as he studies the planets, and become paleontologists with Mary Anning and more. This week, explorers will recreate revolutionary experiments and meet the people that shaped the science we know today.

Week Five - Icky, Sticky Science
Science is messy and we are going to prove it all week long. Wear your grubbies and learn about icky sticky science and how it works.

Week Five (July 25th – July 29th) – Icky, Sticky Science

IT’S ICKY! IT’S STICKY! IT’S SCIENCE! Explorers should be prepared to make a mess as they dabble in icky, squishy, and colorful chemistry. Get ready to experience all types of colors, smells, and textures. From squirmy bugs to smelly burps, explorers will learn about the weirdness of our world. Explorers will dance with Ooblick, eat slime, and make lava lamps all while exploring the scientific method.

Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center Critter Corner is home to many critters, including Mr. and Mrs. Root Beer and their family. They all reside comfortably and at home in our Critter Corner. They are root-beerish (dark brown to black) in color and can reach up to 3 inches in length, from front to back. They can also weigh up to 25 grams. This critter is native to Madagascar, an island nation off the southeastern coast of Africa. Let’s learn more about these fascinating critters.
