Tomorrow is Halfway Day!

June bee blocks are finished and en route to Chris. It was fun to work with her bold color palette.

Last Saturday I taught my first in-person workshop since March 14, 2020. I thoroughly enjoyed the day teaching Improv Log Cabins to 16 quilters from Quilters Etc in Lompoc, CA.

Are you the type that sets creative goals for the year? Do you revisit those goals to see how they’re going? Tomorrow (July 2) is halfway through the 2022 year.

I’m not sure what my intentions were for the year, but artistically I designed an art quilt book, had my first quilt hang at QuiltCon, completed 8 mini (or mini mini) quilts and 1 wall hanging, made progress on numerous larger projects, taught 4 workshops, and gave 7 guild lectures. I contributed bee blocks to five bee members. I have also spent a fair amount of time exploring paper mixed media, including a 100 day project and the 61-day Index Card a Day that I’m about halfway through at the moment.

I’m excited to share that I have an article in the newest issue of Curated Quilts. The theme of issue 20 is Utility and I wrote an article on my machine binding process. I’m looking forward to the arrival of my copy. I hope you enjoy it too!

Happy quilting,

On My Design Wall

I’m still slowly chipping away at piecing the upper half of my Rainbow Remix project. (The upper left quadrant is shown here.) It’s a bit of a puzzle to sew together “blocks” that aren’t square or rectangular and also to not have them look like they were just sewn together in rows or columns. I can envision cuddling up on the red couch with this lovely rainbow. And for now it is making my studio very cheerful.

While it will take me a while to finish piecing, I’m already starting to think about quilting… how would you quilt it?

On-Demand Workshop: Creating a Scrappy Slab

My first On-Demand Workshop is now open for individuals! Creating a Scrappy Slab includes all my tips and tricks for creating fabric from your scraps of any size. The course is a combination of videos and photo tutorials.

The beauty of an on demand class is that you can do it on your timeline, in the comfort of your own home. Want to take the course with friends? Each of you register individually, then you can work together on Zoom or in person.
