We are excited to be almost at full service this month as we seem to be emerging from more and more of the COVID restrictions.  Praise God!

July 2022 Photo Update

Dear <<First Name>>,

Three put-put bicycle taxis were added in the past weeks along with three additional fishing boats.  Our goal is to put a new boat in service every 2 - 3 weeks and to finish the waiting list for put-puts by the end of August.  We have a waiting list of 18 boats and at this time. A grant is helping to make the sponsorship of units more affordable for donors.

The three boats went to the Parilla Village where a new church is being planted by the recipients of the boat livelihood project through the TFBC Outreach Churches.

Soon all of the boat and put-puts will be repainted, By the time this reaches you, we hope all will be done. The names are being retained on the units (after earning ownership of the units after four years, they can change the name but none have opted to do so)  On the put-puts, a general rehab is in progress along with the repainting. A grant is helping with the repainting costs.

The new site for the church plant in the Parilla Village (below)  Praise God we have donors  providing building materials for the church construction.  Labor will be contributed by the members.

We continue to hold discipleship sessions with the drivers and also haves stayed with the feeding program 3x per week.  If schools are able to reopen in August, business will be much better for the them.

We have been sending larger and stronger fishing hooks along with braided line for the fishermen.

The results are amazing, as they can try for bigger fish which live deeper in the ocean.

We are blessed by the clothing and other items sent along with the fishing hooks and line via the balikbayan boxes.  The families are so happy to receive these blessings.

Earlier this year, we started providing orthopedic shoes and braces for clubfoot cases at the Tebow Cure Hospital.  These are given to families after their serial casting and surgeries are completed.  They not only are the first shoes worn by these children but they help to prevent the feet from turning back again.  The braces are to be worn during night time.

Three drivers are involved in the transport of patients to and from the hospital for their appointments. Transportation is needed 7 days a week so we alternate schedules. We are also blessed to have well maintained vehicles to haul the many families.  Without this assistance, it would be difficult for them to access the services of the hospital. A new vehicle is in the works soon, to replace one of the older units. We are blessed for this opportunity.

Two prosthetic cases are being assisted by SOD.  Adoy has a new leg now and Carmel will soon be walking!  Another case, Lyra, will be coming back in July for a replacement leg. Thanks to the donors who continue to help with prosthetic cases.  The case of Adoy was about 800 USD for the device, as this had to be done in Manila, where they are now living.

Housing needs are met for the families through rental houses, small hotels and the REST House. This is in coordination with the hospital social workers.

Also in the boxes last month were some bumper stickers!  Oh...and at the REST House, this is a great opportunity for sharing the gospel with the mothers and the children.

Two Bible distributions covering 38 pastors occurred in the past weeks in partnership with the Tebow Cure Hospital. These distributions serve as recruitment events for pastors to identify patients and to care for them during and after their processes are completed. They of course are delighted to receive the Bibles and clothing given to them at the events.

VBS was held for the first time in three years at the Balik Balik village.  The kids were so happy and many became followers of Jesus!

Students went back to school for face to face classes at the Marilog High School of Agriculture in April.  This prompted the return of the feeding program.

We are at the end of the school year for our many high school and college scholars. Monthly allowances were given out to the 32 high school and college scholars in the Marilog area last week.  Three are graduating this month from college!  Thanks to those who are helping to sponsor these deserving students.

The hospital has been very busy, setting records for admissions and surgeries and faith expressions.  The 1,000 admission barrier was crossed over three weeks ago, (previous high of 676 admissions in a FY).  The number of surgery procedures completed was at a record high for a twelve month period (our fiscal year ended June 30th).  We hosted some prominent visitors in May including Demi Tebow, Miss Universe 2017 and the newly crowned Philippine Miss Universe, Celeste Cortesi.

We are so grateful for your constant prayers and financial support.  We are blessed and encouraged as to the amazing and meaningful work God is directing here. May we continue to be zealous of good works for His honor and glory.

For the SOD boards and Staff and the many recipients,

Peter
