JC Raceteknik embarked on its home round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Holjes, Sweden with eyes set firmly on the podium, together with Norwegian driver line-up Ole Christian Veiby and Sondre Evjen, but in a difficult weekend, neither driver made the final.
Fans returned to Holjes for the Magic Weekend in their tens of thousands, where in the JC Raceteknik Audi S1s, Veiby and Evjen battled through challenging weather conditions and tough competition on track looking for a top result.
Consistently inside the top five in the opening two heats, Evjen lay fifth overnight after Saturday’s racing, while Veiby sat in 10th position, not finding a good rhythm with the car or circuit.
Hard work overnight by the team improved things for Sunday morning, and Veiby set his best pace of the weekend in Heat three. Both drivers progressed through the Progression races, Evjen with a race win and Veiby a third-place finish, but both would finish third in their respective semi-finals and just miss out on a place in the final, ending hopes of finishing on the podium.
Meanwhile in Latvia, reigning RallyX Nordic CrossCar Champion Isak Reiersen, co-driven by Lucas Karlsson, made his European Rally Championship debut with a JC Raceteknik-run Ford Fiesta Rally 4 and the rising star finished 23rd overall and fifth in the ERC4 Junior category.
JC returns to action this weekend in Riga, Latvia for the fifth and sixth rounds of RallyX. Keep up to date with all the information about the free live broadcast via our social media channels.
Joel Christoffersson, JC Raceteknik Team Principal:
“It was an okay weekend in Holjes, we had quite good pace with Sondre on Saturday, but Ole Christian didn’t have the pace we wanted. We found some speed overnight and after warm-up on Sunday morning we felt very good. We had a good heat three and felt confident going into the semi-finals, but a few moments in the first corners lost time for both drivers and we didn’t make the final. We are here to fight for the podium so for sure we are not happy with this, but that’s how it is. We go to Riga this weekend and try to improve. And for Isak, he did a great job this weekend to continue his learning, it was another successful weekend for him and the team in rally.”
