Commodore's notes
I’m looking out the office window – it’s a bay of white water, almost all the boats are tucked up in marinas – its ‘blowing dogs off chains’. I have spent many more days in the marina so far than at the moorings.
We’ve had a busy last few weeks – three events. I suppose it was 1 win, 1 loss and 1 draw. The RS event at the end of May was super. The RS class social media was full of our praises and it was a great event for the club where all sections of the club came together to help.
The Topper event was a loss – the weather defeated us, the 25th & 26th was one of the strongest wind weekends in June I can remember.
Campbeltown was a ‘draw’. Six boats made it over, 30+ kts on Saturday wiped out any event but the Campbeltown club were very glad we came and treated us very well. Such was the wind that most boats stayed an extra day and came home on the Monday.
The club has some great ‘whole club’ events lined up for the rest of the season, a BBQ on Gigha on July 10th (by the Boathouse organised Tom), A BBQ on Saturday 23rd July after the cruiser regatta, the Cushendun Sports Day – always good fun and a ‘tweeked’ Annual Dinner. Sailing School starts on 18th July and runs for 4 weeks.
Have a good time over the next while – the summer is getting better, promise!
See as many of you on Gigha as possible.
