What Do We Need This Week?
TONS of kitten food! We’ve got kittens, kittens, kittens! Our favorite is Purina ProPlan Kitten Food, canned and dry. We supply our fosters with food and these little darlings can really put it away. Consider how much a baby grows in four months compared to how much a kitten does. We keep shoveling it in, and they keep growing!

What else we need is...DRIVERS!
We are looking for drivers to drop off/pick up cats.
We need someone to drive five kitties to Hill Country Animal League (HCAL), 924 N. Main St., Boerne, TX on July 5, leaving Thundering Paws at 6 a.m., having a fun day in Boerne, picking up the kitties at 2:30, and driving them back to Thundering Paws, arriving about 4 p.m. Our volunteer, Emily, will still be out of town that day.
We need people to drive kittens to Emily, who lives in Bulverde, on these dates:
July 11 (7 kitties) |
July 13 (5 kitties) |
July 18 (5 kitties) |
July 25 (5 kitties) |
August 9 (5 kitties) |
August 14 (5 kitties) |
You’d need to leave from Thundering Paws around 9 a.m. If you don’t know where we are, we’ll let you in on the secret, but we don’t publish our address because it’s our home.
And we need people to drive kittens back from 924 N. Main St., Boerne, TX on:
July 12 (7 kitties) |
July 14 (5 kitties) |
July 19 (5 kitties) |
July 26 (5 kitties) |
August 10 (5 kitties) |
August 15 (5 kitties) |

Why do we go so far?
HCAL is a great clinic which we trust with our babies.
They’re a low-cost clinic. For $75, we can get a spay or neuter, anesthesia, and a rabies shot. For another $20, we can get a combo test for feline leukemia, heartworms, and FIV (which we consider a non-disease, but it’s included in the test.)
When HCAL says the kitties will be ready at 2:30, they are. No waiting around until rush hour like some of the Austin low-cost clinics.
It’s a much prettier drive with much less traffic than driving to Austin.
Boerne is a fun town where you can sit by a lake and watch ducks, visit a lovely library, go to several curio shops, get in some bird watching, visit good restaurants and even get a vegan meal! (I’ll tell you where. 😊)
We cannot keep our appointments without drivers. Lately, Scott has been having to drive, and he has too much work to do here.

So many of you have championed this sweet girl in her struggle for functional hind legs. We assume she was hit by a car as she was found by the side of a road and taken to San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter (SMRAS.) They couldn’t afford to set her two broken femurs, so we took her.
Pixel has had a difficult beginning in her young life but thanks to your support she will be able to keep both her legs!
Pixel enjoys a snooze after her rehab session with her foster, Jen.
Three surgeries later it looks like she is finally going to be able to keep both legs, for which we are truly grateful. We’re grateful to all of you who donated for her care, and all of you who cheered her on. We’re grateful to her fosters, Jen and Chris. Jen is a licensed vet tech and is rehabilitating her gorgeous foster baby. If anyone can get her up and running around again, Jen can!

Want To Meet Some Kittens?
We’re having an in-store adoption event on Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Petsmart 12812 Shops Parkway, Suite 400, Austin, TX 78738.
These kitties are ready now, but more will be spayed/neutered/vaccinated by mid-July.
Boy siblings Dapple and Grayling, and their sister, Snowgirl;
Siblings Marshall, Steven, and Tanji;
Siblings Edward and Estelle.
These siblings don’t have to go together, but they’d be happy to be together.

Xena, Patrick, Piper, and Pickle are getting spayed/neutered on the Tuesday this comes into your mailbox. Patrick, Piper, and Pickle (I just love saying that) came from the same hoarding situation but we don’t know their relationship. We think Patrick and Piper may be siblings. Pickle is smaller than the other two so we don’t know how she is related to them.
Adult kitties Whisper, Bradley, Spoon. Cleo is ready, too. She’s a teenager.
Patrick and Piper are a sweet pair.
Pickle enjoys a closeup.
Whisper loves a nice blanket.
Spoon is a dear one.
