Proposed Bill Would Modernize H-2A Worker Program 
The Farm Workforce Modernization Act proposes modifying the method for calculating and making adjustments to the H-2A worker minimum wage, specifying how an employer may satisfy requirements that it attempted to recruit U.S. workers, requiring H-2A employers to guarantee certain minimum work hours, making the program available for agricultural work that is not temporary or seasonal, and reserving a visa allocation for the dairy industry.

The expansion of e-commerce experienced during the last couple of years has led to record demand in warehouse and distribution centers. Record low vacancy rates are driving companies to sign leases on space that hasn't even been built yet. This is leading builders to build on speculation hoping to fill the space before construction is completed, according to Area Development Magazine.

Sumter County Commits to a 9.1% Cut in Property Taxes
On Tuesday, July 12th the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners approved a 9.1% rate cut in property taxes. The 2023 maximum rate will be $5.59 per $1,000 of taxable property value.
