BISMARCK, N.D. – The public is invited to a free interactive learning series during August at the Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site. Participants are introduced to North Dakota’s fascinating history through educational conversations and hands-on projects. Programs are suitable for preschoolers and up. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Cookies and lemonade will be served.

Aug. 2 “Toys, Toys, Toys,” 2-4 p.m. The playroom in the mansion has fun toys. Join us as we make our own toys to take home.

Aug. 9 “Mini Masterpieces,” 2-4 p.m. The Former Governors’ Mansion has always had art displayed on its walls. Look at the different artifacts on display and create your own mini masterpiece.

Aug. 16 “Dinosaur Day,” 2-4 p.m. Dinosaurs roamed North Dakota millions of years ago. Listen to a fun dinosaur story, and dig for dinosaurs on the grounds.

Aug. 27 “Back to School,” 1-3 p.m. School is just around the corner. Say goodbye to summer vacation with lawn games and fun.

The Former Governors’ Mansion, located at 320 East Ave. B, Bismarck, is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Admission is free. The mansion is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 12-4 p.m. Additional upcoming educational programs sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota can be found at history.nd.gov/events.
